Warehouse Firefight

for Half-Life

29th June 2011

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

A top secret splinter group weapon research facility lies underground below the warehouse complex. You must fight your way through the warehouse complex and into the underground facility to collect evidence that they are creating a weapon 10,000 times more powerful than a nuclear warhead.

Once inside the labs, you realise something has gone horribly wrong and a rift has opened between our world and an unknown alien dimension. The aliens are pouring through the rift and are preparing to launch a full scale invasion of the Earth. You must find one of the remaining scientists and get them to help you set off one of the smaller doomsday weapons which should kill all the aliens and close the rift. The future of the entire world is in your hands.

Looked at the homepage, this is a “work in progress” release, apparently…

  2. I’ve added some screenshots and added it to the Development category. I’ve also emailed the author asking for a progress update.

  3. RacerX

Hi, this map was put on a back burner for a while, but I’ve made a little progress on it. Can’t give you a finish date at this time. Does that answer your question, or do you need more info? Take care

So when you blow up the dynamite, and that door starts opening and closing, that’s the end of it? Just asking.

For the rest, good little map, 1 or 2 puzzles, balanced fighting. Just short, and unfinished.

  5. RacerX

hey thanks 😀 the unfinished room on the other side of the opening and closing door is going to be the entrance to the shaft that takes you to the underground labs. btw, there IS a way to open that door without blowing the TNT and dying 🙂 (oh, and you can get the 357 after walking through the very first door when you spawn, and shooting the vent to the airduct on the ceiling)

if you liked those puzzles, try my other HL map on my site (the egyptian museum one). it’s got more and better puzzles, imo.

Gave it a try, kinda short but I liked the fire fights! I was also wondering about the last room! “The end” but I see it’s a work in progress! I DL’d the other map give it a try later! Keep up the work!! 🙂

  7. Phillip says Maybe

I can’t get too excited over this as it’s unfinished and considering it’s nearly 7 years old is very unlikely to!

I find it very hard and admit to using god< .em> mode for the last part. Getting out of the office was a little puzzle but really there’s not much to this. If it was more polished (why are huge crates in rooms with only doorways?), better balanced and part of something larger then it might be fun.

Overall, probably not worth your time but see the other reviews before deciding.

  8. Play It Now!

The enemies are making very powerful weapon! That’s why we, as secret government agent Gordon Freeman, break into their territory to eliminate the threat.

The design is quite beautiful and atmospheric. The blue cloudy sky and metallic buildings remind of the game Kingpin: Life of Crime a lot, under impression of which this map was likely made.

There are a couple of puzzles which pleasantly surprised me, because the right solution turned out to be different from what I was initially trying to do.
Puzzle 1 – I thought that I need to exit the cabinet through the door after breaking its glass, but then understood that I was supposed to do it through the window above, moving the crates to the table.

Puzzle 2 – open the door. I thought that I was supposed to explode the crates from a safe distance, but then tried to break the scanner with crowbar and it worked.
Also, there are intense firefights with aforementioned enemies.

The flaw is that the map is not finished. We open the last door and see that there’s nothing there. That’s too bad, because this map is a serious candidate for a masterpiece.

  9. Think Twice

Due to its unfinished state it’s hard to really recommend it. It’s a shame since it got some good looking, clean design and challenging combat. It could’ve been something really great if it ever got finished.

  10. Think Twice

i have to say that I had fun fighting against these grunts, fair fights and for me there was enough ammors, health and armor power.

But overall it’s just way too short now, so just “think twice” rating from me. I hope that some day we will see finished version.

  11. Barnz

IIRC this was one of the maps made for the mapping contest on Rust.

    Think Twice

This map feels just like it is a taste of something bigger, it’s disappointingly short as-is. I always go for quality over quantity, but in this case it was cut abruptly.

I like the layout, and I really like the look of the outdoor area. I especially like the tough way this map starts out (it’s refreshing not to have to crowbar your first grunt unlike many so far in the 100 Days maps). With a bunch of grunts, some waiting to surprise you, this is a tough little map.

The puzzles I found interesting. I like how you have to exit the office, but I don’t like the impossible crates that you need to do so.

So it has promise but in the end it’s just a tease. I can’t recommend this unless you go in just wanting a taste…

    Think Twice

Without reading up on this map, I soon had may suspicions shortly in to the game. I always do a quick save once the map has loaded, the first door appears to trigger by Grunt action, such that if you are not alert you can be cut down very quickly, if you quick load, this sequence will not repeat, leaving you to restart the map from the console to try again.

The map for all its unpolished appearances and incompleteness does show some promise on the combat side, hence the name FireFight. The author makes good use of the map’s layout to position both cross and vertical fire, thus making these engagements challenging to say the less.

There is enough here to assume that this could have been a worthy addition to the mod seen, but has it stands one can question the validity of its release, being incomplete, unpolished and untested it would have best been left on the authors harddrive.

    Maybe?

Well I assume I finished this mod, I end up in the room with the fan and the explosives next to the pile of nuclear dangerous material, then I realize there were no Exit at all, after I blew up the explosives in the next empty room, even ussing noclip I realize all the playeble parts of the map were done, and there were no more new parts, so that was it, what I liked about this mod were the design and the combat were cool, those puzzles were ok too, but I just didn’t have the sensation of playing a very completed map at all!

  15. Think Twice

A couple of interesting puzzles and fights, but after all this time there’s no excuse for it existing in an unfinished state. Either its finished or it vaporizes itself!

  16. Maybe?

Like the last map, this has very good potential and could probably be a “Play it Now!”.

Also like the last map this is better for the puzzle side, it does have pretty good action however. The 357 in the vent at the top was a nice reward, but I doubt anyone would have bothered to shoot it without looking at RacerX’s comment earlier, so there should probably be some kind of clue even if it is only a small one.

The action was pretty tough in areas and was fairly enjoyable. Probably needs a few improvements. The puzzles were great, I enjoyed trying to figure them out.

If you like puzzle maps then this is a must.

  17. Maybe?

A great pity this wasn’t a finished map/mod as it had the potential to be among the best in the 100. The beginning was a nice touch having to react quickly to the grunt coming through the door, but it was quite easy to pick off the others. However the grunts upstairs where a little more tricky, but got past them, a nice puzzle getting out of the room even though the door seemed the obvious exit. The outside fire-fight was interesting as the grunts in the towers were a pain in the butt (could of been even harder if they had grenades). After getting past the barrier its just down to seeing what was left of the mod.

I think I might have already said this, if someone took the better unfinished mods/maps in the 100 and stitched them together the result could be quite interesting.

  18. Maybe?

Sadly unfinished, started so nice. Thrilling beginning with the grunts, good puzzles, decent combat but doesn’t feel like one big piece of a map, more like experimental stuff.
Nonetheless that what’s shown here is not bad, yet not good too. What a pity!

  19. Play It Now!

    Warehouse Fight for Half-Life

Wow. This must be the best map I’ve played this week.

The concept is that you have to escape a warehouse, but of course that won’t be easy, since there are grunts everywhere.

The enemies are only grunts, which can get tiring, I’ll be honest. Even though the difficulty is high, it’s balanced and keeps the action rolling.

The atmosphere is great. The warehouse truly felt like a warehouse.

There are some puzzles in this map too, which are also great.

Though, the biggest problem with this map is that it’s unfinished. Too bad because this could have been a big PF for me.

Overall, if you’re hungry for some grunt-killing, you won’t regret downloading this map.
