This is a nice little map. As bland as that statement sounds, it’s not meant to be. The design and layout is good, the lighting fine and the action fun.

Even though I prefer shorter mods, this one was just a little too short for me.

My only criticism was that the turrets were too easy to circumvent but that’s not a big deal.

All in all great fun for 5 minutes, so let’s hope Uncle Sam makes more and bigger maps.

    I wish it were longer

can’t believe you didn’t foresee the dirty joke in those 5 words or less haha

  2. Play It Now!

Absolutely my kind of map. Play it now. Really.
Nothing new, no whizzbangs. Just a top notch EP2 combat map.

We can but hope that Uncle Sam extends this great map into something bigger or releases something similar – but longer, please.

Worth ten minutes of your time. Reasonably challenging on normal. As Phillip says the turrets were a bit pointless, but you get a hunter to fight at the end, which makes up for that. If you like hunters, that is, and I do. 🙂

  4. Play It Now!

Good short map for 10-15 minutes of well balanced gameplay but I will add my sent lightning source wasn’t that good in someplace (to bright) but it was perhaps intended, the metal/base part was a little out of context but if this one was made to give some direction to the author future

    We want more from you…

  5. good fun, but it took longer to download than it took to finish.

    I created a video playthrough.

Thanks, I’ve added it to the post.

  6. Play It Now!

A delightful little map, I wish it carried on for much longer. “Play It Now” for sure in my book.

  7. Play It Now!

Left me with a smile at the end. Hopefully more of this to come!

What there was of this map was ok and played without any problems, but it’s a bit short and shallow, apart from a few sharp exchanges with Combine there is not much to this map and it’s rightly named A Brief Detour.

Ok to kill 5 minutes or so, if it’s a first time effort by someone, then it’s well done.

A really enjoyable piece ! Well designed and polished with nice overall game-play balance throughout. A short and satisfying map. Give it a shot.

AWESOME map. I really can’t find anything bad to say about this.

  12. Play It Later

This short map is definitely worth playing. Why am I not giving it a PIN? I don’t know.

    As already stated: more, please.

This really worths the effort, but as many gamers, I also think this one was too short, I don’t know the end felt like a really hard cut off, but despite of that, this was a very cool sam’s map, tough the last one he realized was better I mean to the recent station 51.

Tough I think sam’s maps are special because they have this old missed classic HL combat touch, and I use the “missed” word because now it seems that fo many mappers if they don’t add puzzles they don’t feel their maps are “complete”, I don’t know i’ll always will like combat mods and maps and pure combat maps and mods are ok for me, I mean sometimes we need to go back to the basics and stop adding puzzles every time!!

OK so this is Sam Comb’s first ep2 map 🙂 How interesting, I love seeing people grow.
The intro was scary as the lady screamed in my headset, but the rest of the insertion of the player into this short level felt a lot more natural than in other mods.
I found the shotgun ammo in the storage room, should I be worried? From the playthrough, yes, apparently I missed the gun; I mean I went back to look for it and I still missed it. But all is sorted, as later on I picked up another one from a combine.
I, too, must complain about the turrets, as they don’t shoot when I go around and approach them from the side. Also, the next combine drops on an invisible rope.
Other than that, map plays really well. Same as Gonefshn, I was left with a smile after giggling at the funny and smart ending. Could’ve had more map details and the combine base felt a lil out of place for me, too. But all in all it’s a fun short map.
Maybe too short, so its OK, you can Play It Later!

  15. Play It Now!

This is a fun first release. It’s another short map but it’s good. There’s zombies, Combine and even a Hunter. The atmosphere is pretty nice, I like C17 levels a lot. There’s really only one puzzle and it’s just pressing a button but that’s alright. I like this map and recommend it.

  16. Play It Now!

What an excellent map, but like Phil says.. I wish i was longer. Loved it!!

  17. Personal Favourite

    Short and fun map!

  18. Play It Later

Looks good. Plays good. Good little map. I like the “scare?” at the end.
