  1. Phillip says Maybe

Okay, this is a fine idea and in some places the mapping is very nice but it all hinges on balance and if the most of the levels are not much fun then it brings then whole thing down.

That said, I did quite enjoy playing most of it, but with such a wide variety of locations and action it’s had to enjoy the flow.

The length is pretty short, but that’s not unexpected given the file size.

    Shame there wasn’t a mix 2.

  2. Think Twice

Very disjointed and almost no real action!

From the start it was a bit strange, with a switch above a shelf which you have to climb around the room to get to!!! I played this twice, the second time with God and Noclip on to see if I’d missed anything but I found that the first time around was all there was.

As for looks, it was a bit of a mixture, the bridge in image 3 and 4 was reminiscent of Quake 2 but for me the teleporter room was probably the best looking area. As for action the crowbar will suffice for most of it. Overall it’s not an AI but it’s close.

  3. Maybe?

There was no real continuity to this; it simply was a series of maps loosely wired together. I did like the idea of the cloning machine at the end. That could have made for an interesting map if you could clone Gordon or Barney to prepare for a battle. Play only if you are bored and don’t expect too much

Extrange, I had an idea for a mod with a similar mechanic: you were supposed to be getting sent to random locations during this “mod”. It is almost the same concept. Has been already done that in some other mod?

    1. Yeah, there was a mod called Chaos Theory that has a very similar concept.

    Play It Later

This is maybe another perfect play it later it don’t makes u any harm to play it, I mean u don’t waste enough time on it, and u explore some courious different areas than just the linear ones we’re usted to in HL1 mods, I like the glitches of creativity in some little maps, and is a shame this project never had became biger or at least projected a 2nd enhanced part, this feels more like a kind of project quantum leap stuff that joined many mappers to create cool mixed maps, so I hope in the future we could see a Reissues2 or something similar to it.

  6. Play It Later

This was short but fun. It’d be nice to see more mods like this, collaborations that have faintly linked areas.

Not too much shooting, not too much action, but still this was a cute waste of 20 minutes or so. Worth having around.

The sci-fi portion was quite good, I liked the little ‘turn on the generator” bit. 🙂 And of course, any portion that has my Gman in it is a good portion.

  7. Play It Later

I couldn’t agree more with Hec & Zekiran while it may be not linked in one large mod it still has great maps and some great events in it such as the generator room scene and some other lovely scenes.

The mapping is most of the time great and when I see trams in nice outside areas like here it’s even better as every true hl fan loves trams… “Welcome to the Black Mesa transit system… lalala” 😛

Don’t get to exited as it just isn’t a real story mod but definitely good to keep you distracted for a bit.

    Avoid It!

While I’m all in favor of making mishmash maps from a wide variety of authors, I also realize they often turn out to be totally incoherent, with a big variation in quality and no continuity.

The only thing that added any enjoyment for me in these maps was the second room. I took a ton of damage in the fall because I missed the ladder, but decided to keep going with 5 health. So the headcrabs and slaves became real threats until I reached the Xen healing pool. I just ran past the garg, I suspect there was something else to do there but I managed to evade him. The teleportation area was nicely designed but the hit-the-button gameplay there was boring.

This map pack’s ending text perhaps says it best: “jumble of maps.” There’s nothing terrible here but in the end it isn’t much fun and not really worth your time in my opinion.

  9. Avoid It!

I agree to Unq here, the idea is nice but the result is bad.
If only it would at least sort of fit somehow, but it’s not, sorry!

    Pro’s:
-Different rooms by many authors – good idea imo
-Variation in design and architecture, some neat-looking areas

    Con’s:
    -It all doesn’t fit
    -Very short
    -Balancing
    -Less action
    -Oddity everywhere

  10. Maybe?

While I understand why most reviewers didn’t like this mappack, I don’t think that it was this bad.

I adore the concept of randomly teleporting through maps which aren’t related, and that’s why I like PQL, Issues and ReIssues so much. Here, it’s not done so well.

There are 4 maps in total. The 2nd one was probably my favorite, due to its great mapping.

However, the maps were just too similar to enjoy. The fun thing about this concept is implemented poorly here, and that sucks.

The other maps weren’t so fun to play through either.

Overall, I would say maybe. It’s a fun concept, but the execution is just too mediocre. If you like this concept, try it.

  11. Play It Later

Nice short series of maps. Couldn’t quite follow the storyline, but that’s just my intelligence I guess.
