Citadel Arena

for Half-Life 2

30th August 2018

Quite a small arena where the enemies, Combine soldiers and Combine Elite, spawn at one end of the area and simply run towards you.

Regular ammo and health drops from a shute.

It’s close combat in a rectangle room.

Author’s Note:

“There are 4 respawning combines, 2 with Mp7 and 2 with shotgun. They rush both ways around your ammo depot (The one with the green light), making you stay on your toes to avoid getting shot. Use grenades and beams to your advantage! Also, the ammo and health respawns every once in a while once you’re low on ammo. Use all weapons to make sure you get your ammo!”

  1. A typical arena map with some good color effect but no ending of respawn or at least I didn’t reach it. A map without any yeys candy or any objective is for me timeless…

  2. Phillip says Avoid It!

Can’t really recommend this. In general, I don’t like arenas or never-ending maps, but in this case, I am saying Avoid It! because there’s very little creativity involved. It’s just a simple room, with a few Combine-style features, where the enemies rush you from one end.

All in all, this is a bad arena and should be avoided.

Thanks Phillip for saving me the trouble to download and install it. I shall avoid it as you recommend. Begs the question: why upload it onto your site in the first place if you think it’s something we should avoid? Just saying….

      1. As he had stated a long time ago, he uploads maps like these because the point of this site is to upload everything, despite of the quality of the maps/mods.

      2. The creator(s) of a map can learn from feedback. If I finished my first map I’m going to put it on this site regardsless of the quality, I just want feedback.

      3. This site uses the reviews as a filter system. I don’t see as my job to limit access. If a single player map or mod has been released that fits the criteria of the site (playable with some form of interaction, either combat or puzzle) then I add it to the site.

In addition, just because I said AVOID IT!, doesn’t mean others will. Plenty of mods have AVOID IT! and PLAY IT! recommendations.

I know that you shouldn’t expect much from an arena shooter, but Citadel Arena is really boring and empty. The map has little creativity involved, it’s really basic. This also affects how fun the combat is. It would be better if there was some elevation, so enemies can attack you from above and underneath.

    Avoid It!

Yeah this isn’t even a good arena map. As Phillip said it’s just a constant Combine rush from one end of the ‘room’ while supplies drop from the middle area. There’s no reason to move around outside of the supply drop, and the soldiers are seemingly unending.

I had a major problem with this map after a few minutes. My framerate dropped to about 0.5 fps and stayed there. It stayed that way even after exiting the game and loading the save.

It doesn’t even take more than 1 or 2 minutes to see this is a horrid never-ending arena map.

The only value I see on this map is that you can port it to GMOD and actually use it as a living shooting range to test new weapons you may download.

Avoid It. I really don’t know if there were any more maps available for the 50 SDON, but sure it was a shame this was a part of this event.

  6. Avoid It!

Hey, this is a pretty good first map. Should it be the case to upload it, toh?
1/10 would like to get stuff from the GREEN LIGHT once again.

  7. Avoid It!

Arena maps are ok, I think this one is pretty bog standard. None of the enemies carry weapons other than smg1 and shotgun, and the only ammo types that spawn are crossbow bolts, smg1 grenades, shotgun shells and health. Would be fine, a total “think twice”, but after 5 minutes the game began to steadily run slower and slower. I was playing the game at 1fps when I died. Don’t play this please.

  8. Think Twice

This is an ordinary arena, but in 5 minutes it quickly gets boring. I advise you to find a map with a better arena
