Choices. We face them everyday. But they don’t often come with life or death consequences.

Today, they do.

Choose wisely, there are subtle clues placed within the map to help you (I never flipping saw them! – Phillip).

  1. I’ll be honest, I don’t really “get” these maps. This is the first one I have played (Haven’t played the HL 1 versions) and it just seems as case of trying different routes until you find the exit.

I suppose the invention is creating interesting ways to kill the player?!

  2. d_sparks

Well, yes, actually. The more creative the deaths, the more interesting, to me at least. Maybe I’ve just seen SAW too many times. This is the first map I’ve released, so hope everyone enjoys it. I’m still reletively new to the mapping scene…

  3. didn” t take me to much time to complete. It’s only oriented to see how we can die cause in other end even if it has a purpose it’s not really interesting

  4. Brontos

Is there a final Answer without dying?

    Cool map!!!

  6. Anon_214554

I tried this one on.I’m always looking for the fresh concepts fist and going forward from there. While it was a new concept, all I can really say was…well,I guess that was about it.Try it for a new visual experience of cats, but don’t expect much else.

  7. Phillip says Maybe

Look at the name – it’s pretty clear what kind of map this will be. Apparently, there are clues set within the map but to be honest I think that’s just the author trolling us players.

You are given a number of choices – doors. If you choose incorrectly, then you die. Not rocket science, although standing under a rocket when it fires would bring the same result as the wrong choice.

Al in all, a silly 5 minutes, but it’s not terrible. I have no doubt that Unq will say AVOID IT! and he is probably right. I said MAYBE because some people like this sort of thing – I’m not one of them.

  8. Think Twice

Well, looks like I didn’t “get it” either. I remember playing something like this on HL1, but I think it was different than this.

The “hints” to me are pretty much nonexistent. You try a path, you die, you load the game, repeat. There’s not much point to playing this map now, is there? I guess the “point” is to see some creative deaths, which I can kind of understand, but maybe this isn’t really for me.

Overall, I don’t think I can recommend this to anyone, except to those who want to see some creative ways to die I guess…

  9. Roy

Somehow I lucked into the correct choices to live. I didn’t play it a second time to see the deaths.
I can’t think of a reason this is fun.
I expect it is a troll map as I didn’t see any hints. Maybe the hints were if you die, don’t go this way.

    Think Twice

I was very harsh yesterday. Please forgive me.
This one was not one I would like to play, but you might.
So give it go if it sounds interesting.

  11. Maybe?

Okay, I also don’t “get” these kinda maps but this was fun seeing which style of death I was going to suffer next. They should have happened quicker imho but they were fun. 5 mins of dying for no reason whatsoever! Yup…

    Avoid It!

This map is awful in every conceivable manner. I can’t believe this is the first Avoid It rating.

There is no cleverness in the design, no fun to be had. And in fact, it doesn’t even live up to the title because a number of the failure states aren’t death – they are just shallow pits you get trapped in.

I only played this for 2 and a half minutes and I’m regretting every single second I think about this map.

    Avoid It!

Well, this is a bland map. Possibly it was considered fun only for his developer.

I remember the Half-Quake series, where you basically die in many possible ways, but those mods got a whole concept and this is just a mocking map where the player will always die.

Sorry, this is a solid Avoid it.

  14. Avoid It!

It’s one of these maps where u have to choose on door and if you go trough the wrong one u die (yaaayy)

Most of the textures are stretched, the doors look horrible and u don’t even die in one trap

  15. Think Twice

Welp, it seems some people really like to get murdered. I am not one of those. And the deaths are not even trying to be fun.
2/10 would not like to die, thank you

  16. Avoid It!

Pick a door garbage. Simple as that.

  17. Play It Later

Well, that’s not the best map, it has pretty poor desigh, but anyways the map is really old, i also have second part that called “10waystodie”, yes it was really hard to find it. But the map had intresting and unusual idea of this test chambers where you testing your luck, something like in “Saw” movies, it was fun to play and i can share you second map if you want, you can add me in Discord (#7009) and i share you this map, who really want. So, it was pretty fun to play, and i don’t know why but this map is really stuck in my memory, maybe because of unusual and nice idea. I recommend you to play it, if you like HL2 maps.

  18. Play It Later

This map only took me about 2 minutes to beat. It’s very short. I actually some what enjoyed this map. Please, hear me out on why I enjoyed it. It’s not hard. It’s not long. It’s not annoying. These three things together makes, in my opinion, a worse map than this ever will be. A hard, long, and confusing map makes for a waste of time, and a waste of energy, physical and mental. Rock 24, Minerva, etc are not; these maps are long, but not annoying. It may be hard for some, but I doubt those play testers will find Rock 24 or Minerva annoying. A really bad mod that I think is far worse than this would be something like HDTF, on release day (I heard this mod was getting better). The worst case I can think of would be a map with no direction, long gameplay, and you start at 1hp. This would check all the boxes. Anyway. Here is my score, unrelated to my opinion as always.

    Score Sheet

Usage of space and world brushes: 2/10
Boxy rooms. Boxy brush doors. Hardly any variation in textures.

    Visuals 2/10
Hardly any sound, particles, props or anything else to look at.

    Gameplay: 0/10
It’s a walking sim. No gameplay.

    Final Score: 4/30 – 13%

Final comments. Play it if you are bored and want to kill some time. It’s not bad. It’s really not.

I died twice. I didn’t see any hints.
