Gordon Freeman is tasked to clear out a Combine-controlled oil rig in the middle of the sea. Freeman is offered a lowly, leaking rowboat as a means of transport. It’s just enough to get him to the rig undetected, which is fortunate; rebel reports say there is an armored helicopter stationed on the rig. Undoubtedly, Freeman will have to encounter it sooner or later…

I really enjoyed this map. Beautiful graphics, a great gameplay concept perfectly carried out. While sometimes I found the battles a bit easy, at other times there were moments of panic, and times where thinking of where to go under pressure was necessary and slightly confusing. Design placements of everything were right on.
My only real complaint is it wasn’t long enough! Looking forward to your next map. 🙂
A short and sweet map, with an interesting location that I haven’t really seen in a map before. The combat starts off strong and very quickly, which I think is a good thing for its length, but still gives the right amount of down time in between fights. My only problems are that having the helicopter around while you have a lot of enemies to fight can shred your health pretty quickly, and the container you break down with the crane should’ve had different boards- you were able to break those ones with the crowbar a few minutes ago. But overall, a good map that’s worth your time!

Liked it a lot. Well planned out story with plenty of action. Next time, I’ll opt for harder play. GIve it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Small, contained map that chooses to show the player the entire arena early and often. Allows you to ground yourself to gauge progression.
Good (re)use of space and nice atmosphere, although I was hoping for a little more Lab Practicum when staring out over the ocean. Toss in a long catwalk on the outside of the rig, staring off into the sunset with bridge music playing in the background for best effect.
Decent little map, but nothing really swayed me to convince you to drop everything to play this right now. Would definitely load it into the queue, though. Good in the same way a half-hour TV show is compared to a full-blown hour episode. Sometimes you just want a little snack and Half-Shell is that appetizer.

This is a short, sweet and incredibly fun map! I really like settings like these and this map definitely did it justice: the rig itself looks gorgeous and that’s especially because of its great lighting and skybox! Not to mention, the whole experience is very well designed when it comes to flow and combat. The way you traverse through the rig is quite fast and action-packed and it always keeps you moving! There are also a few tiny sections that definitely give this map a more unique touch (puzzle section, chopper section).
All of these elements combined make for a very fun and very short map that’s definitely worth your time!
Great little short campaign. I especially loved the environment of this mod and use of gravity puzzles. I highly recommend this short yet fun mod for anyone to try!
