So, this is another Russian mod, where you play somebody sent into a base to do something!
Sorry for the vagueness but really, that’s how it is.
Do your best to survive and reach the escape helicopter.

Mixed views on this mod, whilst it’s worth the download for some good set piece grunt and alien combat I also find it dis-jointed with not much easy of flow from one level and/or set to the next, also a couple of doors I just could not open or bypass and noclip a few times just to get on with the game. I think the author has good ideas for set pieces but in this game lucked the ability to link major play into a smooth flowing game.
I was going to make a few comments, having just played this. But Mel has said everything that needs to be said.
Apart from.. its russian I think, with some verbal instructions from game characters in the aforementioned language that are probably helpful, who knows? Some help in mapping from “XXI” – Studio 21 of Ispitatel fame maybe?
Cant open game, keep getting error mesage(couldnt open valae/opfor.wad). Ive tried loading it several different ways but to no avail. Any helpwould be great
You need the opfor.wad. Run a windows search on your half life directory. When you find it put it in the valve folder of half life.
Thanks for your help andyb, Ill try that.
That did the trick,thanks again.
The opfor.wad download is in blue text in the instructions…a few people seem to be missing that….for anyone else, just get your half-life (steam) folder on screen, choose relevant mod and drag and drop it into it after downloading it to your desktop…maybe save a copy somewhere for future use.
Well, I tried this one, And it’s really very mediocre. It has some really poor design. Like in the beginning, he makes you go in the truck, by putting two invisible walls, before and after it. Ofcourse, it could have been clear from the spoken instructions… But I don’t speak russian… It goes on like that. The truck stops, but you’re not supposed to get out yet… so if you do, you die, mysteriously. You step into a portal, that an alien came out of. Which isn’t how it works, there are incoming and outgoing portals, as far as I know. Anyway, I gave it up in the lab… it was just too mediocre
I don’t think anything a person does that I can’t is a waste of time unless its utter rubbish.
This is one of those mods that manage to get so much wrong but is still fun to play. I must have missed the HEV because I found I was crouching through pitch black vents and only through complete luck did I manage to find the way.
Anyway, eventually, I cheated and gave myself the suit and used the flash light.
There are quite a lot of issues with the mod and I got stuck twice in lifts but a quick noclip fixed that.
The fact you take an underwater tram ride and a helicopter crashes through a window make up for all the bad things.
Yes, this mod is frustrating, yes, it’s got bugs, yes it’s not very balance or fair.
But in the end, I was disappointed when it finished, and that’s more important to me than all the misaligned textures or bugs in the world.
I tried to play this twice from the start, I’m not bothering a third time!
The plus side is I’d like to see the female assassin in the cut scene at the start, on her day off (without the PVC/Leather/Spandex (whatever it was)). I got as far as the (what appeared to be a garage) after the first Garg (according to the screenshots ) and then it crashed (the second time).
From what I’ve seen with the leaks in the first time outside doesn’t inspire me with confidence in the mappers skills. I’m not going to use cheats just to finish this one (more than got me this far). If a game requires cheats to carry on then the author has missed something. I’ve used cheats during the 100, but I’m getting bored of using them to finish badly constructed games.
I won’t give this an AI because the screenshots seem to promise more, but enough’s enough. In the 100 so far there have been mods/maps that I have played to the finish (some with cheats (not all)) but it’s getting to the stage that even with cheats some mods/maps are not worth the players time. There are still some I have yet to finish/rate, but from now on I will probably only give mods/maps that crash a AI or TT.
I like mods/maps to be fun without the need to cheat (for the hardcore that means easy), I really don’t mind technically challenged mods/maps as long as they are fun. This was, for what I saw was not fun. There are still some of the 100 I still need to get around to finishing to post a review but I really have to start to be more picky and less charitable.
I liked it…ok, a bit buggy but I’ve played worse…
Overall this it feels like a typical Black Mesa map mission, altough and because of the russian language i’m not certainly sure if this mod is related to BM at all, the maps layout is ok for the battles placement, but sometimes maps are dark and confussing, and also buggy in the cut-live scenes where mechanical dynamics doesn’t work well so u have to use noclip as an esential tool to keep on moving.
I think this is the best mod of letlyx author also of the Ispitatel series, and is the best just because it is a compressed well focused mod instead of the bits ispitatel verssions we have.
This is a play it now for me because is not the best but also is not the worse we have by now on the 100 DoN, but maybe for many players this would feel like a play it later or lower.
Also for me is a play it now because, I like the battles and the fact that u are busy exploring and fighting ur way out almost 98 % of the time so it’s good to be in a mod with a fluid gameplay, and also there are no ugly wide empty mapping traces arround there is ok for play it now.
This mod had a lot of promise, but mapping flaws and bugs ruined it for me.
First I will say that I really enjoyed this mod up until the map tnl4. From tnl4 and onwards though it is just buggy and badly designed. The action in this mod was really well done, it was also challenging in many areas There were a few puzzles in it but nothing too hard. This mod did well on scripted sequences (excluding one on tnl4) and they were usually pretty fun to watch.
This mod was full of areas in which you have to noclip to pass. I had to noclip in a vent, behind a button, on a lift, through a non destroyed window, through a door and by a haunted gun. I have a feeling I noclipped more but they were the ones I remembered. In tnl4 there is a scripted sequence to do with a tank, a Gargantua, a few grunts and an Apache which was really well done until the Apache suicides. The Apache is meant to shoot rockets at one of the walls and then crash and the resulting explosion blows up the window, however this didn’t happen to me and so after constantly searching around the building looking for the way out I decided to noclip past the window. Afterwards, on the same map, there is a door that didn’t open for me, even though I did all that I could in the area and so I had to noclip past that too. The last map was a complete disaster as there were many areas with leaks and allowed you to see the void below. The map makers should have just filled it with anything, even if it looked out of place. On top of that there is a gun that keeps shooting at you even when you kill the grunt operating it, although it manages to stop in the end.
I liked the ending and I thought it was well done. Another example of a well made scripted sequence.
This mod is fun but completely derails near the end of the mod. “Think Twice”.
Mod from the one of Ispitatel series creators.
Some Black Ops are going to break into Black Mesa. I liked the moment when G-Man arrives and printer prints the access codes.
Instead of making it impossible for the player to leave the truck, the author just put an instant kill trigger_hurt on the ground. That’s bad. Even more, if you enter the truck and press “e”, you can ride back to that trigger. It’s not obvious how to escape the bombardment.
This mod reminds of Ispitatel series. Just like there, the voices are not in English, and there are no subtitles, and Black Mesa greets us with some entire rooms from Ispitatel3’s lab map. Since the latter was released three years after this mod, I presume they wanted to make a reference to one of their old mods in Ispitatel3. Overwhelming fights are also there. And one encounter with snarks, too.
We’ll go through various Black Mesa areas. The design is quite decent, there is some originality and some nice little details. The progress is puzzling, because the way to go is not obvious. We have to backtrack to find an opened door.
The big flaw of this mod is buggy and neglectful mapping. There are places where it’s possible to get stuck, vis compiler errors, strange lighting with pitch black parts of a bright room. There will be places where it’s possible to get stuck. I couldn’t climb into the ventilation without looking back and firing the contact grenade. It’s too bad that the authors didn’t put some effort into finding bugs and fixing them, because they spoil what otherwise would be a good mod.
Unfortunately for me this was a bugfest to rival Challenger Deep. But beyond the bugs, it was a decent Black Mesa style set of maps, although with mediocre maps. Again the voices are in Russian so you won’t really get to follow a plot but I suspect it’s not terribly complex. But for me the problems overwhelmed any good experience to be gained from this mod.
Some of the scripts didn’t seem to work right for me. The key one was the arrival of the train car. I assume the train is supposed to stop at the platform in front of me with the grunts on it – however the train got hung up way off to the left and even when the grunts were killed the train car didn’t move. However I could proceed thanks to the long jump module. But eventually I reached a point on foot (screenshot 29 above) where I had to jump on a rail in order to proceed. I did so, and somehow that did something magical: it made me into a god. Not the god, just a god.
I think it was designed to do so much damage as to kill me, but somehow it either gave me infinite health or overloaded a Half-Life variable or something. It was literally like turning on god mode at that point, I couldn’t die after that. It was repeatable too, I reloaded from a save right before the jump, and every time the same thing. It didn’t necessarily break the game, but it was an odd side effect I’ve never seen before. See here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/unq/screenshot/542901600397704323?tab=all Note the 128 health!
Note to all mappers: if you choose to give the player the long jump module, be sure you design for it! Besides the above area, I could also jump out of the map at one point thanks to the long jump.
Otherwise, this was a middle-of-the-road Black Mesa themed pack. There were some basic puzzles that weren’t always clear, although most of them were of the “find the buttons to proceed” type. The author used some cheap tricks like invisible walls to confine the player, and in the intro if you jump out of the boring truck ride it’s instant death. Just sloppy. Loads of areas feature poor mapping, and I don’t just mean blocky. There are plenty of places that I got stuck exploring. There are halls of mirrors all over the place, which points out problems in the mapping process somewhere (either construction or compiling).
I don’t think this is worth playing, there are tons of better packs out there.
Sure enough, it was a trigger_hurt with a damage of 99999999999. Good fun.
That’s cool. maybe it could be actually used in a legitimate way? Perhaps for a short period of time after inhaling radioactive gas!
You become a superhero for 60 seconds.
Would be fun to play, at least imho.
Yeah, but the problem seemed to be that I could never die after that. I eventually got whittled down to 0 health but was still kicking and shooting.
I had a similar thing happen to me because I did the same thing after the tram. Though, with my play through, I appeared to die (screen fell sideways) but I was still able to run around and kill things just with more disorientation.
I should get a video of it because it was the weirdest thing I have ever experienced playing Half-Life.
Yeah, send me the video directly, and I’ll upload it to my YouTube channel
Same happened to me, if I stayed on the rails. If I just touched them briefly by jumping on them for just a second, then it did the 128 health thing.
This was another mod of mixed bag quality. I had a heap of fun playing most of it but there were so many obvious bugs that I could see that really just annoyed me. This one was also in Russian so I missed out on any story and probably some of the directions, though I don’t think it was too much of an impact.
I thought that most of the indoor environments were pretty standard Black Mesa style and I thought they were fairly well detailed as well. However, the outdoor areas, especially towards the end, felt pretty bland. But what really annoyed me were the gaps in the maps which just reeked of sloppy mapping.
There were also plenty of cool scripted events throughout this mod that kept me entertained but, again, there were problems with the scripted events that brought the experience down. Things like windows not breaking during a scripted event or the tram jamming itself where I can’t get on it just killed the momentum of the mod and caused me to question if I had gone the right way. Plenty of play-testing would have ironed out may of these issues and it could have been so much better.
The combat through this one was pretty standard with a mix of the usual human and alien enemies. I thought that it was pretty well paced and I enjoyed being able to use the cover scattered about for a change. There were also a few “find and press the button” puzzles thrown in too, to help break up the combat.
Overall, I had fun with the gameplay and the scripted sequences were pretty funny to watch, however, my OCD just couldn’t quite get past the poor mapping construction, even though the environments seemed pretty well designed visually.
If you can put up with dodgy mapping and some of the buggy scripted events, then the gameplay and the working scripted events are worthy of a look in.
For those interested, here is the video of the sideways view oddity:
Damn, it started so cool! I really want to play it until the end, but it’s not possible for me…
As already many people mentioned here, it’s buggy a lot and often cause of simple, minor issues.
Wasn’t there betatesting?? Why it’s necessary to noclip? Or do we all have to become “Quake III Arena”-style trickjumpers? Well, that’s overacted, sorry. But seriously, cause of the bugs all fun was gone quick..
I am stuck in the reactor room (screenshot #26), after hitting 8 (!) switches there I’m clueless what they all did or what else to do.. (yes, some were for power, some for opening a door there but.. !?!?)
It seems another bug, a scripted one yet again most possibly :/
-Very good leveldesign, architecture – very detailed, also new stuff
-Neat combat action, good balanced
-Some very cool scripts
-Almost as many bugs as in “Starship Troopers” lol 😉
-Some nasty scripts
-Can get confusing often
-Some bad lighting
NOTE: As I haven’t finished this mod take care about this review, you should go play for yourself (if you’re a cheater lol)
Play it just for lulz, and maybe you won’t regret 🙂 . Some puzzles are tricky, but ALL can be passed without cheats, you just need to be more active with search and watchful. It’s a beginners” mod, so some of its” parts have been made ugly, but other parts are fun and good enough.
