Prison Break

for Half-Life 2

19th May 2015

A riot breaks out as the prison is infested with headcrabs.

Fortunately, you have survived the initial attack but now you have zombies and Combine prison guards to worry about.

Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the situation, if only you could get out of your cell.

  1. Phillip says Maybe

It’s certainly not the worst HL2 map you will play but neither is it fantastic.

The basic premise is a little clichéd and the areas seem cobbled together but it offers some short-lived fun.

Exiting the main hall area ends the map.

Is map tap unable to install this one directly??

    1. Correcto. Currently, MapTap can not manage Source single maps. We are working on correcting this.

  3. Maybe?

I think the design is ok sadly it’ s really short but enjoyable
In my opinion it’s better than C2,C3 and C5 for Half-Life that’s received from you Phillip a Maybe 😉

  4. Play It Later

    Another OK map.

The combat is mediocre, the mapping is surprisingly good even though a lot of things don’t make sense, but it’s really short. For this reason, there’s not a lot to say about it really. The only reason I put this a PIL is because I have played a lot of “Jailbreak” or “Prison Break” maps, and this one is one the better ones. If you like that scenario, then you should play it.

  5. Maybe?

It’s an ok little map. I like the force field effect and the background sounds. I did manage to jump across the hallway to the ledge where the combine where shooting at me, and ended up trapped inside an enclosed area. That could have used some more testing. The ending was also a bit underwhelming with just a fade to black. It’s worth a few minutes of your time.

  6. Play It Later

This was actually ok … a bit longer and more area,s and it would of been even better, and compared to the two maps released after this your looking at much better
however lets be honest… phillip needs to bring something to the website were maps need to meet a minimum quality … but then again how would he judge if a map meets that standard.. for example a few dodgy textures and broken trigger or the overall look of the game
however theres no getting away from the standard of recent maps and i cant wait for one of our regular mappers/modders to release another classic ….
i also heard from leon brinkmann and his final mod “the closure” is very close to release .. so that should( infact i will use the word “will ) be another classic from one of the kings of hl2 mapping

    Play It Later

I don’t know, this feels like a play it later. Overall the whole place looks like a preventive CMB prison, rather than a formal High security CMB Prison, but I guess that’s only a coincidence as the design was actually pretty open in here. Actually I realized you can proceed in many different ways as you plan your strike on the CMB Soldiers. The whole map looks a little bit like a multi player one rather than an SP.

All in all, is a quick map for some fast minutes of old classy HL2 combat, so yeah, that’s it, there’s not much surprises in this nor big challenges too.

  8. Maybe?

This is a fun little map, emphasis on little since it’s only a few rooms long. The design is actually really well done and the combat is fun, I like the use of vertical space. The force fields are nicely used too. The only problem is that it’s really, really short. Had I realized you don’t need to fight the combine in the last room and just need to run to the exit, it would’ve taken me even less time to complete it. If you don’t mind really short maps it’s worth a go.

  9. Play It Later

Short but decent map with a lay-out that allows for multiple ways to attack and retreat. I’ve played on difficulty Hard and then the Combine forces offer a rather tough challenge. Exiting the main hall ends this level so one could ‘shortcut’ the whole thing by just sprinting past the enemy. I suspect difficulty ‘medium’ is the ideal setting for this map; challenging without getting insane. Visuals? Pretty good.

To make a long story short; enjoyable map with interesting lay-out, 7 out of 10 and a PIL … !

  10. Maybe?

Simple prison escape map, ends unexpectedly.

  11. Play It Later

The name tells you everything. Good map, but not all of that
    7/10 good mapping toh
Secret: to end the map, just go outside. It seems to be a mapping error.

  12. Maybe?

My prison door opened but was blocked by a field that I had to clip through. Plays good. Very short. Maybe one play through.

  13. Think Twice

It’s a bit bugged for me. I had to prop-climb the walls to get over the large barrier. It was a pretty straight forward map though. Took me a few minutes or so, though it was mainly trying to figure out how to get over the barrier. It’s not the best jail break map out there.

Maybe play it if you have time. Took me only about 4.5 minutes.
