ok, a good little save the scientist mission/not much game play/grunts only.

  2. Think Twice

Yup, an old “blast-your-way-through” to the scientists map with many flaws.

    Pro’s:
-Lot of combat (at the end)
    -Plenty of weapons, ammo
-Some good but silly ideas about the map’s architecture

    Con’s:
    -Short playtime
-Basic, undetailed and poor level design
    -Elevator bug
-Tough difficulty in one room (bad balanced) – map at all is easy
    -Just odd gameplay

Locked up is a simple little grunt fest in which you navigate through a series of increasingly difficult arenas in order to reach four clones in a cupboard.

That’s the basic summary anyway. I didn’t dislike the map as it provided a pretty decent challenge. Starting out with shotgun wielding grunts in long hallways, it’s fairly easy to get by without taking any damage. Then after a handful of devious traps including a tripmine right below a vent exit, you reach the more difficult section. Open rooms full of grunts packing ARs and handgrenades (No grenade launchers that I noticed). These probably take things a little too far, especially on hard mode.

As for the level design itself, it’s fine. Very basic in terms of detail but the flow isn’t terrible and it’s got plenty of height variation. I can’t say it looked anything like a nuclear power station but for an early HL map from the late 90s, what can you do?

Starts with a cute fly-in cutscene. I don’t know how you’re supposed to pass the room with ~12 hgrunts when you only have a shotgun and 1 rpg round. Next bit is really fun thanks to all the explosives. I kept getting stuck in the cutscene in the end after finding the scientists, the cutscene just never ends, oh well.

  5. Maybe?

The level design is basic, more of a typical quake map than a half life map. The combat is extremely unbalanced. One room to another, you encounter a bunch of grunts but thanks to the handgun, taking them out is very easy and I barely took damage from them. The hard part is where one room spams tons of grunts and they spam grenades at you. In the end, you get to greet 4 scientists in an endless cutscene.

  6. Play It Later

The level is nice. More oriented by a free combat. Still it’s hard in the entire level. It’s like he don’t want the player to have the nicest weapons to have a good advantage, he prefer to give lower quality weapons so we get stucked in every corner. In exception of the rocket Launcher in the end. If you know how to use it, youi’ll be fine. When you see scientist keep waitin, you can get even closer to them!
