Author’s Notes

“Competition 24 entry: I realized too late that I didn’t compile my entry right for the compo. Here is how it’s supposed to look. Black ops are after an artefact. Barney send you in to retrieve it.

Stuff happens.. The ending sequence DOES NOT end the game, and I don’t have a clue as to why it’s not working. But the level is done after the screen fades. Have fun, this is one of my first SP maps released. I included a Custom sky made by “SOCK” downloaded from the Wadfather.”

You start in an unusual setting and the author gives you a story, unfortunately I could read it, must have been my resolution. I don’t have time to change it and play the level again.

Anyway, you have to find some object that the Ninjas are holding. The ending has some sort of bug so give it a few moments when you think it’s finished.

The natural setting gives it a feeling of freshness but I can’t help but dislike the blockiness of it. That’s not the author’s fault but neither is it the player’s!

    – Almost too hard for a n00b like me.
    – I didn’t really like the setting.
    – Those Ninjas were too accurate.
    – I couldn’t read the text.
    – The non-ending.

I would love to see this level in a Black Mesa setting and Half-Life 2. These types of levels, where you have to worry about attacks coming from every corner and angle really get me to concentrate. Much better than just running and shooting!

A bit hard, even on easy. Okay level design. Most of the assassins just stand at their area without moving making it kinda pointless to retreat.

Rubbish ending, if you even can call it an ending.

They are not black ops, as the description says, but ninjas. The black ops are from opposing force, I think. I could just make out the text in the note at the beginning. Basically it says the same as the description here. Get the box (secret weapon?) from the “black ops” before they use it.
It’s not too hard, but a better weapon, maybe the magnum, would have been nice… If you’re running low on health, there’s a secret cache somewhere.

unfortunately I couldn’t read it, must have been my resolution. I don’t have time to change it and play the level again.

    Here it is:

    SUBJECT: Freeman, Gordon

    Body:

Glad to see you survived the river, Gordon. As you know, the Black-Ops have taken over the area in search of “The Box.” We do not know what kind of power “The Box” has, but we do know that the government MUST not have access to it. We knew the whereabouts before anyone else, yet they got here first. I’m afraid the Black-Ops might have already found it. With luck they do not know how to activate the device in-case they did already find it.
Gordon, please. Get in there and do what you must to get control of “The Box,” and then radio us when the situation is under control. They MUST have a radio set up somewhere around there.
Your crowbar is in the metal crate, and your suit and some weapons are in the wooden ones. Hopefully they aren’t too soggy from the river.

    Good Luck Gordon!

    huh, weird ending indeed
really short and not that hard, I didn’t even need the crossbow or the secret stash
regret that the design and textures weren’t so astonishing with my video card
this map would fit very nicely in a mod due to its novel style

  8. Mel

OK. killed every thing that moves, found the box that then explose, screen goes white and after a while clears and you are still in the area of the box exploding, is that it? end of game?

Short – sharp game with a few while concealed Black-Ops. Design graphics very basic and boxy but nevertheless worked with this mod. The building structures and layout reminded me of the early parts of Heart of Evil. You do need to read the note pad just after the start, other wise like me you will rush on missing vital stuff. This is one of those short mods that is fun to play through again knowing where all those evil Black-Ops are lurking.

  10. Sengoku

Please any can share this mod in another Server ?, because FileFront not work in my ISP ….

    Thanks.

  11. Sengoku

    Work !!!
    Thanks andyb ! . You is a genious !

  12. Think Twice

Uhm, I liked the fresh setting a lot, meaning lots of green, nice level design.
But that’s it already, c’mon! Only assassins?? Pfffffffff!

    Pro’s:
-Briefing what to do (bit badly readable)
    -Level design
    -Challenging combat
    -Semi-secret areas

    Con’s:
    -Very short
-Only 1 enemytype (I don’t count the alien slaves, why are all of them behind a fence anyway??)
    -Ending, where are you?
-Looking very unfinished, not very detailed

  13. Maybe?

Great level design, but playability is not so good.

  14. Maybe?

I liked the level design, but the map is too short and the only enemies are assassins, also the ending is pretty sudden and feels unfinished, but hey, is still a fun little mod, give it a try
