  1. I hate giving maps and mods Avoid It recommendation images but I just can’t bring myself to offer anything else.

Sure, it was probably made a long time ago but the gameplay is insanely hard and that for me is a big problem. The design is boxy and uninteresting, coupled with the fact you have to load the second map manually, it just doesn’t deserve anything else.

    Play at your own risk.

    Too hard to be fun.

    Not fun, too difficult.

Well I like a good challange. So I gave it a try. But it’s true this is really – really hard. Still I did it to survive the first map without using any cheats.

The second map however wont load and doesn’t work.

There’s a tree.mdl missing and a counterstrike texture file for the skybox.

    Easy to say Avoid it!

    2 map is not load.
    message says Mod_NumForName : model/tree_palm.mdl not found

what can I do? pls help

A bit late the answer but well…

Google for the specific missing mdl files there are 2 of them. I’ve found both on some modding pages after you downloaded them put them into the models folder in gearbox. Then the 2nd map will work. But the 2nd map is as stupid as the first map.

this is madness… really dont waste your time with this one

  7. Phillip says Avoid It!

No change in my recommendation. This has to be one of the hardest maps out there. Not in a good way, either.

I had to load the second map manually, which with MapTap is no problem. If I ever get the missing models, I’ll update the download.

I say either avoid it or go GOD mode because nobody could survive this (reverse psychology challenge made!)

  8. Avoid It!

OP4 was released in 1999, this atrocity was released in 2008, so 9yrs and the author still couldn’t get it right!

I’m not going to bother saying anything about it, other than my playtime is based on playing both maps with god mode on (I’ve played it before so I knew what to expect).

  9. Avoid It!

After the white light goes off, we see very bad design: landscape made from rectangular brushes and poorly looking buildings. There is also unrealistically stretched truck. The need to manually load the second map is also not good.

Gameplay is impossible to complete. At the first map there are a lot of hostile soldiers and a helicopter, at the second there is a big crowd of Xen aliens and zombies.

It’s noticeable that the author tried to improve it by adding interesting scenes (flying the airplane, ending which tries to provide some closure), but since there’s nothing to improve, it’s a multiplication by zero, so the result is still zero.

  10. Avoid It!

We are dumped into the middle of a blocky, misshapen warzone and bombarded with a ridiculous amount of enemies. There is no chance of completing this without god mode. Add to this the lack of level transition, and the only redeeming feature is a “flyable” aircraft. Avoid this one!

Geez, this is the worst set of maps I’ve ever seen.

There are literally no redeeming qualities about them.

    Everything is 100% terrible.

I want my 9 minutes back.

This work looked prommissing the first seconds of the first map, the rest was a total mess, I don’t know why the defficulty level was so high, and then the rest of this map is just a big arena that the only way you can enjoy is by introducing impulse101 and enjoy the weapons against the handful of grunts and xenians at the end….

I guess this is on the way to be the most “Avoided” mappack in PP, also is an scaring correlation between bad experimental maps, and Oposing Force, which is a shame, I toght many maps for OpF were better, but so far there are alot of crapyness, I guess OpF only have a “count with the fingers of hand” best maps or mods.

  13. Avoid It!

This map seems like the mapper tried to make something, but he probably got distracted by cheese.

It has no sense of balance or thought with the enemy placement although the attempt at making real world objects is passable. The mapper didn’t use level changes and didn’t even put some text on screen to tell us to change the map in the console.

This map also continues the tradition of not using any OP4 content (besides some textures) and using stock HL1 grunts instead of using Massn’s. In the end there is white text on the screen but you can’t read it because the screen fades to white.

    What a fucking disgrace.

  14. Avoid It!

I’m ok with difficult maps, but this is on another level. The first map is a grunt fest with no suit and zero healing items, oh, and don’t forget the helicopter attacking form above. It’s doable, but not very fun. The next map is worse, with the level filled with enemies and not enough ammo or health to fight. The only way to beat it is by running away. The level design is so messy, that if you backtrack you can find a gonarch and a robot loader fighting for some reason. The ending is extra weird because you get teleported to random locations very quickly, with text appearing on the screen that you can barely read due to the white-out effect.

Avoid these maps unless you’re some kind of masochist. And even then, there are better looking and better balanced hard maps out there.
