Inspired by the Hero’s Journey, The Heist puts the player in the shoes of a Resistance commando on a mission to steal a weapon prototype from the Combine. Gameplay features include sneaking past enemy guards and hurling cars at an enemy strider.
Following the destruction of the Citadel in City 17, the Resistance movement spreads. Human spies get word of a Combine weapon modelled on the ‘super’ gravity gun Gordon Freeman used to destroy City 17’s Citadel. Currently, the Combine’s only working prototype of the weapon is en route to City 1’s Citadel via Razortrain. The Resistance forms a bold plan to steal the weapon at the weakest point on the route: a fortified depot in City 14. You are the Resistance operative that volunteered for this dangerous work.
Throughout the mission, text messages will appear on the screen. Consider these messages orders from Resistance headquarters.
“I set The Heist in an urban environment at night to enhance the stealth aspects of the mission. I want the player to feel that he or she is actually sneaking through heavily patrolled streets and breaking into an enemy compound, and I do that by filling the environment with things he or she would expect in that situation – bright street lights, sounds of patrolling helicopters, grimy back alleys, etc.”
The read me file contains a strange path for the installation. I used the normal path:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOURUSERNAME\half-life 2\hl2\maps\
to copy the .bsp file into. It seems to work fine for me.
