Be nice if I could get it to open.
Anybody have this problem?
No problems here. I dont know if he means the zip file or the game itself. As for the mod it’s way hard.
Sorry I was so brief. I meant I cannot open the game within Half-Life. No problem in unzipping it.
This is what I did: I unzipped the file. COpied the maps into my half-life folder within my SteamApps folder and then copied the graphs into the graphs folder, again within the Steam Apps folder. I no longer have a non-Steam Hl installation but I presume it’s the same.
I then started HL and opened the console and typed (without quotes) “map power1” and press enter.
Let me know what happens for you.
i tried it in steam and it crashed in 1 place all the time so I installed it to sierra/halflife/valve/maps.
dont use the BSP folder just whats in it
Thanks to all. Got it running by placing the bsp’s in the valve\maps folder per andyb’s suggestion. Must remember that method although I bet I won’t.
That’s exactly what I said! 🙂
Now. Now. Yes, that is pretty much the same method you described except I do not run HL in Steam therefore didn’t put it in SteamApps. I modify my statement to read per planetphillip and andyb’s suggestions.
I played this HL1 mod sometime back and wrote then; A good but hard game with tough combat and containing a few very hard puzzles/climbs, textures and sets good without any thing new. I must have enjoyed this one by rating it 7/10 making it well above average. I did not have any trouble installing or running as far as I can remember.
This mod looks very empty without action. It is playable but I found no entry to somewhere, the building is empty in noclip-mode. Maybe this mod wants more than average puzzling-skills.
Weird mappack from Czech mapper with some decent mapping, tough combat and puzzles.
Pro’s:
-Some good mapping, architecture – also new graphics
-Some cool puzzles
-Tough combat action requiring tactics
-Okay playtime (~30-60 mins)
Con’s:
-Weird beginning
-Balancing – less health and ammo (especially at the start)
-No crowbar at start
-No story
Note: There IS combat and even more..
Hints for getting started ingame:
Open the metal box for the AR, shoot the crates for the HEV and ammo, shoot the lock on the metal door to access the tall tower, use the wheel near the (drums plz) steeeeeeam for opening the canal access, enter…
Thank you for the tips to start. I’ve become so used to not even trying to open crates without a crowbar, as most of them in the last 20 or so mods I played don’t open at all. So my brain didn’t even think to try shooting crates. haha
Mapping and gameplay are good, but there are some “strange” decisions of map design and items placement, which can be really confusing for player.
This little map pack surprised me, it was quite a bit of fun to walk through. Fun tactical engagements with the enemies and decent level design for 2002. It is using only the original HL assets, but they are used differently in the maps – the level design is quite a bit different from what you would see in black mesa, its not great, but it is mostly good and it is refreshing to see the original textures used differently than you might be used to from playing other mods.
Two biggest problems this mod has are unfortunately the very first and the very last level, everything in between was great fun.
In the first level you have to open a metal box by using the “use” key near it and in the appearance of the box there is no hint whatsoever that it can be opened. In the box there is a MP5 and u have to use it to to break a wooden crate which contains the H.E.V. The last level suffers a case of ridiculous amounts of assassins and soldiers all over the place and no health pickups, it is just ridiculous and unfair difficulty and god mode is pretty much required – it is a shame because in the rest of the game i found it to be pretty well balanced, but that ending is just insane, it almost seems like a troll.
This is just a collection of maps, not a proper mod with its own directory… so in order to play it you have to copy the .bsp files into ../valve/maps, run Half-Life with -console parameter and than start map power1 in the console.
The story within the text file is really rudimentary, ridiculous and unimportant… For some reason aliens attacked a power plant, the government than sent special forces to deal with the aliens and the soldiers than went rogue… You are Gordon Freeman and you are there to deal with that mess.
