  1. Phillip says Play It!

From a visual and gameplay point of view this is a pretty good mod. But there are other considerations. Firstly, the squad. Squad management is not why I play maps and mods. I can forgive the author for adding a squad because it really is a personal preferences but please make sure they can follow me properly. I know that this can be difficult but as a player that’s not my problem.

Next, it probably should have had more beta testing (As should 99% of most released SP maps and mods!) because it’s possible to take a different route than the author expected and not fight the Combine Gunships.

The coast area is very well done but does suffer from some graphical errors and there are a few areas I reached that I don’t think the author wanted players to go.

(It continues to amaze me at how many mappers think I can read their mind and go in the exact direction they want me to. Don’t they think players will explore?)

The courtyard area leading to the Embassy is pretty good and this is where the gameplay really starts. There’s a nice touch getting to the roof and after the Gunship(s) you get a break.

As with all the Guildhall releases it’s not as polished as you might hope but this one is definitely worth playing.

The ending is a little disappointing but I have tagged it with Beta Demo Unfinished so keep your expectations in check.

It was alright but I really didn’t like the text narration! Whenever I followed what the text said I would get killed (like assault the embassy, then retreat??) so I ended up going straight for the trolley and never saw a gunship. In addition, I’m convinced all squads in HL2 are doomed. I find it to be such a chore dragging them around, and if I am exploring they are bound to get stuck somewhere. Then when you get into a battle they die so easily that it wasn’t worth bringing them in the first place.
Sorry for that rant, the squad didn’t work for me in this map.

Ok as far as it went with good set design and plenty of action up against gunships. Unfortunately the mod ends just when you think you have overcome the test encounter and on your way fall of promise. Let’s hope we get further chapters otherwise its a bit meaningless and a waste of a promising start.

very good. just kind of short. “neway, that is a great of a mappin’. I know you put effort into lighting and all that stuff, but the average player shall consider your map. GJ.

Not bad for a first map, if you don’t go to the right places the triggers don’t start certain parts of the action though. There is not adequate space to hide from the gunships and you can go places the author probably doesn’t want you to. I was expecting more than just one map after the way it started. Some indoor firefights would have been better.

  6. Play It Later

Good mod but short, I hope for a sequel in the embassy

  7. Play It Later

This was a short, intense map.

I had problems with the squad, but two of them followed me after I got the barriers “down” (they didn’t LOOK like they were down, but I could walk through them).

When I reentered the courtyard I gave myself an RPG, because the squad member who got stuck on the stairs was the one with the RPG… Note to future players–you don’t need to do that. (When I found that out, I replayed that section. It ended up being more intense, but also more fun. I even died once.)

  8. Play It Later

I enjoyed this quite a lot.
Some good Combat at a good pace and quite intense on the rooftop.
2 Gunships to take down as well – lovely.
I had no glitches at all but you do need to get your bum in gear when you hear the 1st Gunship.
Up those stairs soldier. Now. Double quicktime. Up to the little cable car. Activate it and stay low.

Look after your 2 Rebels. they’ll wipe out all but one or two of the Combine at ground level.

    Rebel with RPG is great!

I thought this was going to be better than it actually was… The start was great but the squad are a pain and kept staying put. Odd design up on top but the vistas weren’t bad at all. The courtyard area was immense and a crossbow was given – which is superb. shame there wasn’t too many distant soldiers to snipe. Still, the soldiers that came were a LOT so the extra weapon certainly helped.

The text was often confused. Telling me to retreat, which i did but erm I knew that was wrong. So went back to the little cart thing. That battle was a tough one, I mean really tough. At least for me. Soldiers attacking and a gunship to destroy with little place to take cover!! When i finally did it, another darn gunship appears… but then it just ends shortly afterwards. Which was a shame.

This map has something to it which I liked. The lighting and overall look was ace towards the start. But it all then seemed to tail off as it was basically nothing more than a gunship fight. Which was too hard imho. I wonder if there was ever an update because this was a good start.

  10. Maybe?

Good in spurts. Worth a play. Map probably would have been better if it was smaller.
