filecloud zip contains only pak1.pak. no instructions. Gmann can you tell me where to put the file and how to run it? Thanx
If the pak1.pak is extracted everything is there.
Thanks andyb. Everything is there but still, where do you put it and how do you run it like piledriver asked?
I havent tested it all yet but the maps go in valve/maps the graphs in valve/maps/graphs
and the wad file into valve folder.Type map mistake1 to start it
Ok I tested it and it crashed at the map change.I also changed it to pak0.pak and put the pak file in the half life folder and it ran also but crashed at the same spot.I haven’t tried it with the old version of half life yet.
OK AndyB, Goddess – me thick.
I extracted the mistake2 folder from mistake2.zip. The folder contains pak1.pak. How do you extract a .pak file? Please explain in enormous, demeaning and patronising detail 🙂
Mistaken Identity 1 also hangs at the first map change
use pakexplorer http://quakestuff.telefragged.com/
This would appear to be as bad as 1, if in fact they are different?
ditto 1 give it a miss.
Level change is not working, you need to load each map manually and use cheats to take a suit/weapon.
It began interesting after a more or less decent part one.
But there are just too many annoying things this time!
First of all, there are no instructions on how to play / start the mappack.
No readme, no clues, I only could play it while reading other comments here as I don’t have a Pak Explorer program on my computer at the moment.
Then, only the first map is playable proplerly, game crashes everytime at mapchange. Yes, you can load the other maps manually (map mistake2, mistake 3 etc.), but that’s not the way it should be, and meant to be!
Releasing a mappack with not functioning mapchange is a disaster and a big failure in my eyes..
Other things that annoy are the performance and sound issues, I guess that’s caused of the authors mapping skills, but okay it’s bearable, somehow..
What I like is the setting, outdoor area at night, soldiers around the corner throwing grenades, good atmosphere!
And uncommon layouts I think, I like that!
But that’s already all positive to mention here..
This time I’m NOT noclipping through the manually loaded other maps, because it’s just terrible to publish a pack without working mapchange.
So I refuse to keep on “playing” it!
Regrettably, despite looking a LITTLE better than Mistaken Identity 1, this map pack is literally unplayable. I’m not quite sure how it happened, but every level transition breaks the game, removing the players control so you can’t even noclip out of the void it drops you in.
The levels that I DID play seem a little more detailed and the combat was a little better this time around, with the player even getting text prompt objectives and updates as to their current location.
However, as much as it seems the mapping has improved, I simply cannot recommend a map pack that does not even run seamlessly.

There’s heavy problem to play this. The transition between maps never happens, so it’s like starting a new game every map. But if transition is nicely made, the mod is quite acceptable with a quick ending where you are blown up by G-Man bomb and that’s it. The nicest view is when you slide down the rope in the canyon.
