    Correct name…
    LV-426 Episode 1

I finally got around around to comparing
    version A to version C

Ran a duplicate check through a program called
Hunter. Finds dupes by CRC and filesize.
    Both versions have 238 files.
The ONLY difference between the two versions is the file “config.cfg” and the only differences between those two have to do with key binds.

I see no reason for you to continue to offer this one in 2 different versions.

  2. Thanks for the tip about the Hunter! I will edit one of the versions and delete the other when I get home.

  3. Maybe?

For those of you that don’t know, LV-426 is the name of a moon/planet based in Ridley Scott’s Alien, and this humongous map is based off that.

The Aliens sure look nice, and there are custom textured USCM marines.

The lighting is done well, to a point where you kind of need your flashlight to see just around the corner.

Although, it’s a bland, large, boring level.
It’s just gigantic corridor after gigantic corridor.

Fighting the Aliens isn’t too much of a either, since they’re based off the Half-Life zombie behaviourisms.

It’s an interesting change, but I can only say:

    Strangely, I wish I saw more face-huggers…

  4. HL Masta

I need a walkthrough for this.

  5. Gilfrarry

HL Masta, I’m afraid I don’t know of a walkthrough for this particular mod.

If you find one, or are interested in writing one, please let me know.

    Avoid It!

Just seem to wander around in a space craft getting no where – Alien Half Life – Pointless
I wonder is part B is just as pointless.

    Maybe?

Well, I like it, it is almost the same atmosphere from the game Aliens Vs Predator, not so good, but remember that one. I missed a Smartgun weapon … 🙂

  8. Avoid It!

I’d like to start by saying that I’ll give any map or mod the time of day. This one however? It’s incredibly difficult for me to say there is anything worth your time here.

This map boils down to running around a dimly lit maze looking for a button, then running around a dimly lit maze looking for the door it opened. There is no logic to the layout and the buttons activate doors over at the other end of the map, even on different floors at times.

Throughout all of this, reskinned zombies and alien grunts spawn around you. Literally all around you, out of thin air. The models are decent, though definitely not original works by the author and the sounds have been replaced with sounds from Aliens vs Predator. However, they are incredibly easy to outsmart due to the lack of a nodegraph in the map. Simply putting a small piece of geometry between yourself and the xenos is enough to freeze them in place, allowing you to take your time and pick them off.

Not to mention, right at the start, it’s possible to be killed during a cutscene. I had to trigger the cutscene and then hide around a corner before it began and locked me into place.

Long story short, don’t waste your time with this one.
