  1. Phillip says Play It!

I was a little surprised by this. I found it via Ten Four Forums and it was hosted on HL2files.com. Normally they get quite a few comments, even for bad maps but at the time of writing this had zero comments.

It’s a good little adventure with a simple objective. The balance between action and exploring is about right and there’s also some button pushing to keep you amused.

It lasts about 10/15 minutes but has the most frustrating ending EVER!

I suspect this is due to a bug but I tried 3 times and got almost exactly the same result, with or without the tank.

It’s frustrating because it ends right in the middle of a firefight.

Anyway, it’s quite well made and the layout is pretty good too.

I would say that the addition of the magnum makes it a little too easy and recommend players to not use it unless you are playing on HARD but still want a challenge.

This is the first time I have made a recommendation of this kind because I normally die even on EASY but this time I didn’t get below 80 points health.

In fact I think I’ll play again on HARD and see what happens.

    Play It Now!

Played almost all the way through and the game is just a little buggy with some walls appearing flat black instead of just dimly lit(the exploded bathroom).

The Elevator puzzle is great – an unexpected treat in such a small map. puzzles are good for breaking up the action and avoiding battle fatigue.

As you progress, the damage to the building made by the headcrab missle crashing through the middle is visible from every room and really gives the map a “professional” quality because of consistency. This map could easily be incorporated into a larger mod I’d like to see more work by this map maker.

    Play It Later

Nice short map with 2 puzzles, ending is strange though – right in the middle of a fight you get the message”congratulations you have beaten Rebel Cache” Haven’t seen any tank ? phillip

    SPOILERS BELOW

The part where you run across the internal bridge and you get shot at with the AR2 and you can see the Combine running into the building you are about to enter, well just behind the Combine should be a tank that crashes through a wall/door.

Image 12 and 13 show it.

Actually, now that I come to think about it I don’t think I saw it the second and third time I replayed the ending.

  5. So this is single map named Rebel Cache. It is set during Half Life 2 like and untold chapter of the game. And to be honest this would make a fun little Easter egg that would be cool if you could find it during the game and play it. But it would have to go through some fixes first.

The map was short and fun but badly textured. Not in the way that you had textures that didn’t match it was that there may not have been any cube maps. Half of the map seemed to be either bright white or its actually intended texture colour, though it was more the former then the latter. Which is a shame because the map was well made, and was fun for as long as it lasted. The map was very straight forward and very simple, it didn’t try to over do itself with some fancy happenings or some detailed story line. It did well and despite the fact that the rooms were badly textured and perhaps some of the actual rooms seemed to be badly detailed I recommend you play it.

  6. Play It Now!

An excellently planned mission and well mapped.
(except the is no END, it’s over when you get back outside and find the APC).

There’s quite a lot to do with top notch combat game play.
Ammo is scarce – use wisely!

For a BSP map this is big enough to enjoy.

    A jolly good punch-up; great!

  7. Has anyone gotten this to work recently?

  8. This map is broken.

After just few seconds it throws a “Congratulations you beat Rebelcache” message on the screen and returns to the menu.

  9. Avoid It!

Right away the screen tells you the objective. Big explosion then the screen tells you, you won. I finished the map in 10 seconds. I’m gifted.
