So, the starting premise is getting sooo old now that it’s hard to get excited about prison escape. Granted, this map was made back in 2006 but I am just playing it now, so it’s at a disadvantage.

I am not going to write a structure review because it’s not worth it. The best I can say is check the screenshots and if you enjoy indoors areas with coloured lights give it a try.

    Avoid It!

i do agree with if you like coloring lights play it, but I would like to add; when you like rooms were in front of your eyes spawn more enemies at ones then you can ever kill, then play this one. I thought I never would give any map the recommandation Avoid it, but this I simply can’t see otherwise. it all start with a prison cell were the wall is blown open of, after that its walking through some hallways filled with zombies, headcrabs and combines. and the more you proceed the more insane starts to get the amount of enemies that spawn in your face.
i do like each mapping atempt that is made by beginner mappers, like I have said many times before. but please, why just make 6 hallways and fill them with spawning enemies. the start of the map did look a little bit promising, but its clear that after the first hallway the mapper didn’t feel like continuing. because adding spawnpoints is nothing more as left clicking with your mouse in the 3D window of the hammer editor (click-click-click-click-click, and again we have made a map.)

sorry for the bad review. and please don’t see this as that I say you shouldn’t add these maps to PP. because you should ! for the better maps and mods its nice that people can see the difference between a mapper who does take the time and effort to make something decent, and those who start with a map and feel bored after the first few hours serieus mapping. still, the mapper did finish the map. lots of maps are lost due to not finishing it. although I am not so sure if this map really does add something to the community.

    therefore my Avoid it.

  3. Maybe?

It is not good but it’s not that bad! It has some fun moments.
The last room with spawning zombies is very irritating and spoils an otherwise average map. Tactics not required, just a little thought.
It is, supposedly, the pre-cursor to Escape 2 although I had a little trouble seeing the connection other that you start where this one stops

    Think Twice

It entertained me for a while, but the corridors are mainly boxes and it is not at all clear why there are loads of Combine standing behind shields waiting for you. I didn’t mind the spawning headcrabs and zombies too much as it was kind of fun to use the machine gun secondary fire to give them some grief before sprinting for the vent, but in general infinite spawn=massively irritating and therefore better avoided. Pretty much the same goes for Escape 2.

for a first map from the author and even if it was a little to boxy there were some good idea…except the lasr one

Not horrible, not great. Was okay until the last room.

  11. Think Twice

One of the oldest maps from 2006. What I can say? This is just typical grab weapons, shoot enemies, escape scenario. Level design is bland and poor. Big amount of enemies typically placed inside big rooms. Combat and walkthrough is boring. The only good thing there’s some work with scripting which is higher than average.
