    A good one. Liked it.

  2. me too it’s was really better than the first breakdown and quite fluid execpt the coop that won’t follow you to open the next door. also liked a lot the small buggy you drive

Very playable until I reached the enormous room, a skylight through which a soldier came down on a rope. After half an hour of exploration it seems to dead end. A real pity–I would have enjoyed playing it through to the finish.

A few too many crates to break open, btw, but otherwise there’s wit to the monster placement. The letters lying around are also a nice touch.

    1. For anyone who gets stuck in the LARGE room, exit only entrance, left hallway, enter large cafeteria & locate a key card in the NE of the room (from when you entered). This will open the locked ID 2.0 room in the LARGE room.

    Appearance/Gameplay:
Breakdown 2 is starting, where Breakdown 1 ended. You are put to a part of the facility of Black Mesa where you weren’t before… and so you try once again to escape.
Sadly this mod doesn’t catch up the nice ideas from BD1, like the sneaking. In this sequel you are from the first mapchange on right into the action against slightly modificated houndeyes. A (more or less) new interesting idea ais the letters that are lying around. If you come near one, you’ll get a message that a letter is nearby. Anyway, the message itself is delievered by onscreen-text, no beautiful blend-in images like Poke646 or BlackOPs (which stole that idea). You are fighting in standard-Half-Life environment, some places are better designed than others and you won’t remember this mod much, but while you play you are able to have some fun.

    Conclusion:
The brushwork and ligtning is better than in Breakdown 1, the atmosphere is darker and textures are less clean and bright. Average difficulty. Play it when you enjoyed Breakdown 1, but don’t expect too much.

  5. Now you’ve come to your senses (Breakdown1) it really is time to get out. This time you’ve smartened up and you know your way around. Although, it did end rather abruptly. I too enjoyed the letters and missed the stealth.

    Maybe?

Better than the first part. Clean made, but lacks
the special extra to be real good.

    Play It Now!

Agree with other comments. Worth the download, better than BD1 and longer. Modified weapon sounds and skins. Bluer, tougher houndeyes!
Fairly good run and shoot type fun.

  8. Play It Later

Very good continuation of “Breakdown”, find your way to escape BM using keycards, solving puzzles and fighting obligatory combat sequences.

    Pro’s:
-Successful sequel, and even better than the first “Breakdown”, decent story
-Good balanced action, no more that tough combats
-Modified enemies, weapons & sounds, new music
    -Puzzles every now and then
    -Some nice scripts
-Very good level design, BM feeling
    -Letters supporting the story
    -No bugs

    Con’s:
-Maybe still a little to hard for rookies
    -Quite short playtime
-Less weapons, health and enemy types

  9. Maybe?

In addition to being very hard, it doesn’t have much of a story & a LOT of crate breaking!!! Did I mention there is a lot of breaking of crates, I went to sleep and could still hear the sound effect in my head!!

Anyways other than the “challenge” of playing this hard game where there isn’t much health, armor, or ammo…there isn’t any reason to play it.

  10. Play It Later

Compared to breakdown 1 this one is a definite improvement. Mapping is as good and at times even better than in the first one and the gameplay is more consistent.
Unlike in Breakdown 1, here you have enough ammo and health and the mod is quite a bit easier because of it. However you will have to do a ridiculous amount of crate breaking. One would expect to break some crates here and there in any Half-Life game, but this mod went way overboard with it – it was annoying, it was tedious and it was artificial length.
Fortunately the crates were the biggest issue this mod had, other than that It is a well designed mod that doesn’t stand out but delivers a consistent Half-Life experience with a few twists. If you have an itch to play some good old HL maps this is a good choice.

  11. Play It Later

Unsurprisingly this is a distinct improvement over the first Breakdown, and I actually had quite a bit of fun playing this. The frustrations I had with the first game are all completely gone, now the only real problem I have is the crate smashing – which there is a lot of – and inconsistent crate textures for both breakable and unbreakable boxes, some of which are in the same room.

Breakdown 2 is slightly longer than the first one probably by an extra 20 mins or so. The gameplay gimmicks like vortigaunt hide and seek, vortigaunt whackamole, and the stealth are all removed, which I firmly believe is for the better. The mod is a lot easier than the first one also, perhaps too easy, so it’s probably worth trying this one on hard.

The mapping still suffers from blockiness, but overall it’s significantly better than the first, the modder also plays to his strengths from the first – interiors – and so the majority of this mod is indoors. I feel like mapping connoisseurs won’t be to pleased with this aspect with the mod but overall I liked it and it didn’t feel too out of place in a BM setting. Like the first there’s also a few decent set pieces here and there.

I had a lot of fun with this. I wouldn’t call it great, but absolutely worth your time, and considering only 5 people before me have recommended this it also seems a little under-appreciated.
