Do you enjoy driving the buggy? Well, you may enjoy this mappack. The problem is that it has some many little errors that it becomes annoying.

It’s nice to see an attempt at large outdoor areas but teh author, whoever it may be, seems to have used too many invisible walls and not enough attnetion to detail.

The enemies are always bunched together, meaning gameplay is one mad rush of action followed by exploring. The is a good example of badly balanced gameplay.

The layout of the levels is quite good and it would have been really nice to see this made in Episode Two with all those errors removed and better balance.

I think I went the wrong way when playing, so my screenshots may not match the order you play.

The cable car at the end is pretty good and finding the ending is either really tough or really easy, depending on which way you go after level three starts.

    ENDING SPOLIER BELOW
When you reach the balacony overlooking the lake you need to jump in and search the bottom.

    Large but too linear.

Here we go again, TOO DARK.

The map summary seemed interesting so I looked at the panoramic image.

I just spent months staring at Random Quest.

The author probably doesn’t want to hear my thoughts.

    1. It’s certainly not as beautiful as RQ.

Well, I’m confused, again. It must just be me but I can’t figure out where I am or where I want to be and why. Unless I missed some instructions or road map or clue along the way, I am completely isolated in some big empty building that looks like a parking garage. Am I supposed to be driving around here? I left the buggy at the wall when it wouldn’t fit through to go up the ramp. I “flew” around some trying to get an idea on the big picture but it didn’t help much. I saw no people other then zombies. So, I ask myself if this is so slow with no real fighting, should I keep going or bag it up?It’s really easy to walk off the map and there needs alot more time spent to polish this. But then I haven’t gotten very far and really don’t think I’ll go on. It looks super slow and too much walking around time. But then, that could just be me being all lost.

    1. There a few interesting places to go in the building you refer to. There a power generator that lights up the area, plus opens a large door to the next level. Also, there’s a ammo cache and a Gravity Gun, which reminds me I need to add that as a tag.

Mediocre at best. I played it twice just to make sure I did not like it – I do not like it.
The buggy is restricted to a narrow aquaduct without water, no ‘driving” required.
To search the bottom of the lake to find the ending, I needed god mode.
    Lowestlight – last chapter
Highestlight – a strider and a poison zombie after the buggy ride; I always like taking them down.

You want know if large areas could work in half life 2?
The answer is yes, but not in that way.
The three maps are really really big, especially the last one is a quite impressing thing, I will probably steal the idea with the lift for the future.
Quite confusing sometimes, it’s funny to walk such big areas, althought it is pretty bad made. I ran three times near the generator button until I finally got that this should be a button, lol. Enemies are placed bad and no interesting fighting concepts, this maps are more about for players who want to explore and like to search and find the right way.
Such big maps could work pretty well and offer some new gaming concept for halflife2, you only need to find a good way between detail and size.

No wonder this city is lost. It gave me an eye sore just looking at it. Now that I look back on the mod I had absolutly NO FUN playing it. First off that curvy highway was really tight fit and tiny. Secondly, the background was awfull and those mountains were more like pyramids. There was only one type of tree, and the combat was, you guessed it, terrible. Maybe it was the fact that 3 minutes in my buggie flipped over so I had to walk the rest of the way. When I found the gravity gun (and the falling glass was more of an annoyance than a heart pounding scripted event) I didn’t want to go all of the way back. Then the “big battle” came. By that point all of my ammo was gone. Noclip’d to the next map. Since I didn’t have my vehicle it took 5 minutes to get to the next “big battle.” While going there I notice the wall texture on a boring building. It didn’t even fit. The bottom was in the middle, then repeated at the top. When I got to the “big battle” my ammo was gone so what was I supposed to do?! Noclip’d. Got to the current-less river which transported me to some random area full of more zombies. How delightfull. I couldn’t find my way around so guess wut. Noclip’d. went up the elevator thing which when it neared the stop jumped violently up and down a good 4 or 5 times. I closed my eyes in the maze of copied and pasted concrete buildings. I couldn’t figure out what to do so I happily quit. If there was a good thing about this, it’s that he blended textures together and there were curves in the road. I never could figure out how to do those…I really wish this could have been done better but it felt like it was tossed together 10 minutes after he found Hammer.

    Avoid It!

Uninstalled it after.. erm… 2 mins playing?
The map’s level of detail it’s at the “bad map for Duke Nukem 3D level”, too wide areas with too wide blocks (Wich means the same 128*128 texture repeating over and over in a 1000*1000 wall).
There are no story, no intuitive gameplay, no objectives and very ugly buildings. Even the “dirt” props placed through one of the buildings are copy pasted…Only played the first map. Don’t waste your time.

    Maybe?

a quite interesting design but the way you need to act and know what next, will certainly put a lot of frustration and disapontment at the end that without the spoiler isn’t that easy to find…

  10. Maybe?

    There was a generator?

I had to noclip past that door in the garage building. For the people who left the buggy, it may be possible to take it a little farther (if you find the generator and it opens the gate near the “spare” buggy), but not much.

I didn’t find the weapon cache after the parking garage, so I just avoided most of the zombies along the river. (I was tired of wandering around not knowing where to go, so wasn’t interested in exploring by that point.) Then the next map loaded, along with a lot more zombies; which I also managed to avoid.

The elevator was the best part (why was there a Strider in the middle of a building?, which was the other best part), but then my sound went out (some effects still worked, but most didn’t). I only found the “exit” from the city by using god mode. I still have no idea exactly where it is in the reservoir.

  11. Couldn’t get this to work at all.
Tried on EP2 as well, no luck
