This special winter edition Map Labs Atom was run as a 3-day jam instead of the usual 24 hours. The theme? Easy, make a cold map.

This time there are 19 ice cold maps for you to play!

Manual Installation Instructions
  • Make sure you have the Upcoming branch of the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer installed in Steam and run at least once. (Properties – Betas – select upcoming from the dropdown list).
  • Copy the freeze folder into your SourceMods folder.
  • Restart or start Steam.
  • Freeze should now be listed in your Library tab.

    What is wrong with “Freeze” ? The gameinfo.txt file is exactly the same file as that in abridgedallstars except for the NAME . It plays, but Freeze does not show in my Library?

    Any good ideas?

    Well, not too much to say about this…

    The only thing I can say is it’s ironic I played this “frozen” theme when there are pretty “hellish” superb-hot temperatures in my country, so that was quite weird.

    Entries were playable overall but not outstanding, and I guess being an atom entry, the map play length is short and quite straightforward.

    So yeah, I guess is the perfect stuff if you want to get distracted with some HL2 maps for a few minutes, but that’s it…

    So the theme looks really relevant and could provide some interesting experience, under other with the visual of snow and ice. I was waiting for something really interesting but it wasn’t really, some maps are defenitly worth to play through but you can count them on one hand despite the amount of 19 maps

    An interseting idea of gameplay that gave some fun to play trough this one, on the other side the design was not enough developped to create a great gaming experience also it lack, for me, some music

    A closed area, a wood house, a pit and a small walk beween the two…Nothing else

    A sort of snow camp were freezing is your enemy, solving some puzzle will make you participate to giving a gift not prfect but at least a little fun to play trough

    this one is a little more combat oriented with the monster freeze idea that was cool, just a feeling of too boxy area and lack of ambiance
