Agonised

for Half-Life 2

12th June 2008

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

A large, open area map with more headcrabs and zombies than you can shake a stick at. Plenty of ammo and health to keep you amused for at least 15 minutes. It’s apparently based on a real location in Siberia.

On the first play this map crashed and I wasn’t able to ry it again until the next day. The basic layout is quite simple and the placement of enemies and ammo is a little too uniform for my liking.

There are a few minor graphical erros but this map definitely hasn’t been beta tested enough because there are areas that lack polish.

I was a little dissapointed that none of the doors open, so exploring was a little boring. There also didn’t seem to be any ending, at least I couldn’t find one!

There no doubt the author spent a fair bit of time building this and as part of something larger with a clear objective and a few minor chances this could definitely have been a fun map.

As it stands I can’t recommend it more than a “Maybe”.

yeah I have the same problem too, wait does this mean I have to wait till teh next day in order to play the map succesfully??cuz it crashed when I first try it??plz someone respond

      1. I can’t remember exactly why I had to wait a day but it would have been personal reasons rather than anything technical.

I suggest you restart Steam or even your PC, which I presume you have done since encountering the problem and reading this messgae and see what happens.

BTW, please don’t add things like “Plz someone respond” to your messgae because we all help if we can – this website is different from mst gaming websites, as hopefully you will find – people are frinedly and helpful by nature.

On a 2nd look I agree with Phillip
But what we do get is just a sample taste of the combat style
the storyline even tho very basic
Still 3 times playing through even ramming every baddy with the buggy seemed enough.
I believe intentional or not the author of this map kept the doors closed & the open pathways for a linear path tho that hurts those who enjoy exploration besides combat but what was given is still alot.
i played for 35 minutes to get rid all enemies & simplely take in everything without using cheats (normal skill)
maybe with community help a 2nd release might clear the air.

A fair-sized download for such a simple map….it’s nothing more than a bog-standard slug fest. Still, it’s slightly more interesting than some of the garbage that’s being released these days.

Phillip, I see that you’ve gone back to listing maps alphabetically, which is fine for some people. But because it’s easier to find new maps by date added, I much prefer to see them listed in chronological order. Could you please add “results by date” buttons to the top of the lists?

That was just an oversight from the upgrade. It should be back to date now.

    Maybe?

I agreed with all comments above there seems to be no objectives except killing enemies the framerate in my case is really low certainly to the oversize of the map but like phillip said with a storyline, objective, and a good oriented progression this one could have some potentiel look to the quite good architecture I will only say

  6. SP Map Corner

So after two month of FPS unactivity (only focus on virtuel rally championship) I tried yesterday a quite recent release that was available here at Planetphillip. Sadly I didn’t choose the best…

First of all you just start in the middle of a building with a stair to progress, you will find several items but nothing to open or to do. Then you go to the outdoor where the framerate is very high causing problems to progress in an extremly huge environment (you should be aware of it regarding the map size) there is no objective just kill and progress you can take the car, you can travel arround go in some limited inside place but nothing else? there is some new textures content and even a ‘secret place” the one marked with the hl sign with some new music content but this doesn’t really make some highlights to this release even if honestly the general layout and especially all buildings are quite realistic and well done.

In conclusion: there was some potential in this one with a correct layout and architecture but the lack of objective and the limited fun from the gameplay let the player with more frustration than enjoyment…sadly.

  7. Maybe?

The lag was awful… It normally gets better for me when I kill off however many enemies, but that didn’t help much this time… (It was laggy even after everything was dead except for one barnacle.)

I got about an hour worth of play out of this, but I can see that it all depends on how you play.

It’s worth playing if you like killing all types of zombies/headcrabs and want to play everything.

  8. Maybe?

I honestly don’t have much to say about this map. It’s a large wide open area with a whole bunch of zombies and weapons but no Combine. I think this is probably the author testing effects and stuff like that. Usually I like nonlinear but in this there’s just no objective at all. Some games work like this, example being Postal, but Half-Life 2 does not. Not counting the starting area there’s only one building you can go into and it doesn’t have a whole lot apart from one room with tons of stuff crammed into it including, for some reason, a metal song yelling roughly at you through speakers. I didn’t enjoy this map. So why did I give it maybe? Well, for starters, if you play it on Synergy or Garry’s Mod or something like that and have eight or more players running around doing stuff it could be some pretty wacky fun. Secondly it might make a good deathmatch map. For single player, however, I would say avoid it.
