Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3
Author’s Note

This is my first map for Hl2 and second map all together, So scripts and a few other things for this map that I made are quite new to me :P. But this is just the introduction map of my map series “Head Sickness” which will consist of probably about 6 or so maps taking place at Ridge Haven, the mental institution grounds of Browns Woods.

The map theme is based in and around the game Silent Hill as will the custom music I add in the later maps, so expect to see some weird shit and an alternate reality of the Sanatorium, as seen in the locations in all the Silent Hill games. I have the majority of the resources needed to finish the series but there’s a few things I would love to add to it to make it complete

Story

You are part of Combine Metropolice and the leading member of your squad sent to investigate Ridge Haven, an abandoned sanatorium set on the outskirts of Browns Woods, exactly 2 miles from City 11. There have been reports of the headcrabbed un-dead using the abandoned sanatorium ground as a type of nest and there have been several odd accounts of them making the journey from their respected location all the way to the outskirts of City 11 and terrorizing citizens.

Normally the Combine MetroPolice don’t bother hunting down hostiles outside city limits, but stranger reports of the un-dead actually kidnapping several people has forced the Combine to investigate this strange behaviour. A scanner was sent to Ridge Haven and sent several strange photos back to HQ before being destroyed. From further evidence from the scanner photos the Combine have come to the conclusion that there is another “entity” in control at RideHaven and is seen as a possible threat to them and City 11.

You and your squad are to make your way to Ridge Haven, reactivate the generators and make your way into the main building. Once inside you are to clear out any hostiles met and further investigate where the scanner left off which was in the basement of the main building.

Installation

To install simply copy the files into the relevant folders in you Half-Life 2 installation. My my case it’s:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\MYUSERNAME\half-life 2\hl2

Some folder were not there, for example the “materials” and “models” ones. In that case I copied the whole folder across.

To run the game open up the console and type “map Ridgehaven_01” and hit enter.

At this stage, the map’s an incomplete proof of concept but the author promisses there’ll be more to come. It looks good though. Wait for the final release – rather than be dissapointed by the brevity of this one.

  2. Civil Protection

I had the great pleasure of playing this brief, yet promissing, map. The reason I love it so much is because a.) I am a hospital security officer (kinda like metropolice) and b.) we patrol a closed state mental institution that encompasses quite a bit of land. The map looks like where I work in some respects, which is awesome. I hope the author doesn’t leave this one in the dark!

well thanks should have read this first, been f ing around this maps for 30 min, thought the install was( wrong see image 12). liked the intro then,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh its over, took me longer to figure that out than to play:{ More ! this started out fun now start mapping!oh and I gotta lean that noclip seems to be helpful at times.

Before you consider playing this map you should be aware it’s unfinished. It’s simply a case of killing what you find in some rooms. It looks like the project was abandoned, whicis a shame because it seems like it had potential to be quite fun.

Expect about 5-10 minutes of gameplay.

Image 12 shows what happens when you reach the entrance to the basement. Image 13 and 14 are what I found with noclipping and image 15 is what happens when you leave the room with the Gman in it.

If anybody can find a way to enter that room without cheating please tell me.

    My Recommendation

  5. I’ve just realised that I already had listed this map. I have merged the comments into one post and upadted the page with all the screenshots etc.

  6. Maybe?

It took me 5 minutes to finish the map. Obviously it’s unfinished but very detailed map. The main feature is we play as a combine metropolice and we explore the abandoned mental hospital with our buddies (I accidentally shot one :d). The outdoor and indoor areas are very detailed and contains a lot of ambient sounds which is very nice. There’s also original HL2 soundtrack which plays when we enter the hospital. Unfortunately there’s only 5 min of gameplay. There’s a hospital, a few zombies and headcrabs and that’s all. It doesn’t even have a proper ending. There’s a lot of potential with this map. It could have been as good as Nightmare House. Unfortunately, it seems like this is the only released map. I cannot recommend it for everyone because it’s just simply waste of time.
