    Challenging and straight leveldesign, astonishing rooms, lots of weapons and enemies. 20 minutes of fun!

    Another old, single map with a confusing start. Just slay your way through the enemies and launch the rocket.

    Pro’s:
    -Quite much ammo, weapons and health
    -Some nice action

    Con’s:
    -Poor, basic level design
    -Graphic bugs
    -Irritating start (no HEV, closed room)
    -Stupid AI
    -Weird story, design and gameplay
    -Short

    Simply put, this is not a map that should have been released. Dressed to Kill, by German author Jürgen Siebert, is the first map by the author and it follows the classic mold of rookie disasters.

    There really is no background given for this map – your mission is to simply fight your way through and launch the rocket at the end. And oh what fun you’ll have along the way. You’ll run into a mix of human and alien enemies, a bare room full of automatic turrets, bookcases that mysteriously move like sliding doors, r_speeds of well over 2000, and blatant mistexturing.

    Of course it goes without mention that Dressed to Kill, as a typical first map, has very basic architecture, which gets really sloppy in parts. Specifically in one section, where you climb up into a glass-enclosed catwalk, you can see and even get to the outside of the other rooms in the map (I think the map has a big box around it, so technically there are no leaks to the void). As is normal for this kind of map, the gameplay is strictly linear, with the only choices you really are presented with are whether to walk to the right side or left side of the crates in your way.

    The good points of this map? Hmmm. Well…ummm…oh! The title isn’t so bad. But you really don’t get “dressed to kill” (i.e. find an HEV) until you have passed several armor powerups that are essentially useless, since you can’t go back to get them once you find your suit. The combat is mediocre at best, because the level is way too cramped and doesn’t allow any of the enemies to really have the room they need to be challenging. Well, so much for good points.

    Dressed to Kill, though it may sound enticing, is an entirely forgettable experience. Don’t waste your precious download bandwidth on this one.

  4. Play It Later

    Welcome to Lego Half-Life, all rooms are tight, grunts are waiting you behind cover. Assassins are resting above the alcove. Creates contain explosion devices. A room with multy sentry guns? You don’t even know which one will be triggered. And the rocket has broght some aliens from the space and landed inside a tight room with a rock ceiling, how the hell it get there. Only aliens knows.
