Week 31

5th August 2016

Firstly, Phillip’s The Closure stream will be at 11:00am Central European Time on Saturday.

Secondly, Darren will be continuing his The Ville Retrospective event and this week it’s the turn of AmbushVille starting at 1pm UK Time on Saturday, which should be 2pm CET time.

Thirdly, Phillip will be streaming one his practice mapping sessions, which is part of The Level Design Academy at 11:00am Central European Time on Sunday.

You should double check the Time & Date.Com website for your local time. Please note the UK is not on GMT during the summer, so use 1pm UK or London time to check the stream time in your time zone.

All streams will be on the RTSL Twitch Channel and announced on the RTSL Twitter Feed.

If you have any questions about the streams, just ask.

  1. Confusing post…

    First stream is in GMT

Second Stream(The Closure) is in CET, but is actually staring an hour before the ‘first stream’

    1. I have edited the post. Should be clearer now.

  2. Oh God, AmbushVille? I thought TVR was just the pre-Steampipe Villes! And here I was, all relieved that I wouldn’t have to cringe through my old maps.

For the record, if I may: when playing Temple Stand-in, the goal is to get down to the gnome, pick it up, and then get back to the start of the level, with or without the gnome. If you want to bring the gnome back to get the good ending, you can just punt him up one level at a time with the gravity gun. Remember more or less where you shoot him, use the pillars as cover from Strider fire, then sprint up the ramps, find the gnome, and launch him again. Repeat to get to the top, then just blast through enemies as fast as possible. You don’t need to kill anything unless it gets in your way, just run.

I say this not as an excuse for my bad level design, but as an accommodation for the sake of Darren’s viewers and sanity. No need to get frustrated and waste time screwing around with a poorly executed idea.

    1. 🙂 same – im a bit worried about mine too, especially for the live-stream (I didn’t see this post until after the live-stream last Saturday), because many people said they experienced hard-crashes in my map when they destroyed the APC. Nevermind! I actually updated the map a fair bit and removed the APC, I wish I could have sent it last week!

      1. Very interesting, just checked the twitter page, and it says the stream has been delayed. Perhaps I should look into providing this updated and crash-fixed version. Mine was not part of the competition because I submitted it beyond the deadline. Hmm.
