Somewhere in the desert is a facility called TYS. In this facility people can test their skills. You are one of the participants and have to complete two Levels.
The first level tests your abilities. This contains jump, speed and tactical tests.
The second level deals with grenades. You have to complete some accuracy and speed tests.

  5. Syman

Delete that modification you don’t need to waste your time of your life for nothing.

  6. Syman

This modification is from Simon Sonntag.
This Fat Masta man is not creative, not worth to play:
    Graphic-Design: 1.5
    Textures: 1.0
    Sound: 2.5
    Entertainment: 0.1
    Result: 5.1
Everyone can see that TYS isn’t a modification he isn’t good in making a modifikcation, just hear his voice in the game (hahahhhhooo).

  7. Isch

Here are the results of game test:
Not good because boxy level design and less map entities.

Sound: He has used wav files from an other game, listen to his recorded voice, hoohhh…

Textures: No interesting textures grey textures like grey cloudes!

Models: No new model files, he’s not able to create that because it is to difficult!
    It is so.

  12. Play It Now!

    This mod is awesome!
I really think this is a great mod idea, kinda short, I would have loved more levels!
It should have been tested a little more, I found 3 shortcuts possible, which make the game soooo easier, I think they should be fixed. I wont tell what they are here because I dont wann spoil the moment of reflexion of the chambers, but if anyone wants to know them, just PM me.
This mod didnt make my skills better, but it truly showed me I have some =D

  13. Ten Four Reviews

I was unlucky enough to stumble across Test Your Skill at the ModDB. I should have believed some of the comments, and taken a closer look at the screenshots. In all honestly, this map would find a more appropriate home with Cranky Steve.

I’ve played a couple of Team Fortress Classic maps that are classified as ‘skill’ maps – that is, they are designed solely for the purpose of practicing skills like conc jumps, rocket jumps, and grenade jumps (and racing with other players doing the same). While they can be somewhat enjoyable if designed nicely, they really aren’t my cup of tea. So you can only imagine my review of a Half-Life skill map that isn’t designed nicely by any meaning of the word.

Not only is all of the architecture in Test Your Skill incredibly blocky, but the lighting is terrible as well. The author made liberal use of flashing and pulsing lights, and even the areas with steady lighting are ugly. There is nothing visually attractive about TYS at all. Even the damned menu screen is fugly. Ambient sounds and atmosphere are nonexistent (bonus: the custom voices are completely unintelligible), and there is no combat unless you count tossing grenades at helpless crates and satchels at sentry guns.

But that ‘combat’ section is at the very end, and may be considered the only redeeming quality of this map pack (which is still a stretch). The bulk of this pack is composed of jumping puzzles, with the penalty of instant death if you miss or take too long. I just don’t understand why the mapper thought this would be fun for anyone except you psychos who liked Half-Quake. I suppose some people just love striking the quickload key repeatedly.

There is a tiny touch of cleverness shown in a couple of the puzzles, especially those involving the grenades. If they were present in a different map pack, with much better design, and meaningful rewards, they might be considered good puzzles. But in all likelihood, if you dare download this pack, and then by some major lapse of judgment decide to actually install and play it, you probably will run out of patience long before you reach the grenade section. Plus, be prepared to reload or cheat if you run out of grenades before completing the tests; you won’t get any more if you use them all up.

While I found no enjoyment whatsoever in Test Your Patience Skill, I can appreciate what the author was attempting to do. It’s much like an overdone Hazard Course, with some demolitions training thrown in at the end. Had a map like this (but with much, much better architecture, lighting, etc.) been released about 4 years ago when Half-Life was still fairly new, it might have been worth playing. As it stands now, it isn’t even worth reviewing. Wait just a minute…
