Here are all the entries for my HunterVille mapping competition. I would like to thank everybody who entered.
I consider it a HUGE success and as you will see when you play the maps, the quality and ideas were truly amazing. I had real trouble picking a winner and I suppose in many ways, that’s a great position to be in. I feel some pride in thinking that my competition has encouraged the mappers to make and release these maps.
A short single player experience set in the Half-Life Universe featuring a unique gravity defying weapon that allows you to jump buildings and sustain large falls.
The story takes place at a mysterious date & location after the events of Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

It’s 13 months after the incidents at Black Mesa. The Black Mesa Research Facility has been shut down. The nation never got to know anything about the experiments there. The less you know, the less you worry. The government founded a new organisation to handle “alien related topics”. They hired the best scientists, technicians and military forces worldwide, its name is Poke646.
Some days ago the Poke646 scientists spotted alarming signals from the Xen homeworld. It looks as if the aliens plan to invade Nation City by opening a massive amount of portals. But the Poke646 Tech Labs are already prepared: some months ago the technicians developed a huge generator which is able to close hundreds of portals at once with a bundled energy beam. Four generators are about to be installed at the edges of Nation City. With all four activated they will form a giant beam and hopefully destroy the alien portal technology forever.

I suppose this should have been part of the Releases of the Year 2014 but it’s too late now, so I might as well use it as a poll question.
Looking at each year’s mapping challenging it’s possible that this year was one of the strongest in terms of average quality.

Here at PP, soon to be RunThinkShootLive, there have been intermittent end of year awards, but from now on, there will be an award ceremony every year.
Each category will be voted upon by readers but the initial list will come from the Recommendation System.
Only maps and mods actually RELEASED in 2014 will be eligible for consideration. Maps and mods are updated and lots of older maps and mods are added within any given year but those won’t be considered.

Your attempt to infiltrate the base hits a problem almost immediately.
The HEV suit and weapon are waiting in the cupboard as planned but for some reason the army grunts seem to be expecting you.
