I was enjoyng this until I entered a doorway, the screen flashed white, turned black then…well, stayed that way. There were still combine voices nearby and no writing to say I’d reached the end of the map.

Was that the end or is it a bug? I expected more gameplay for the size of the file, which is why I suspect it’s not meant to end like that. Most perculiar. Anyone else played this one?

To #1 I ran into this problem once before with a HL2 mod, I don’t remember the name cause I have so many stored! But anyhow go to your HL2 setup — video — and turn off the HDR box that seemed to correct the prob. The name of the other mod was the new Blueshift demo! Try it!

To #2: Thanks for the tip re. the HDR box. Sadly it didn’t work. So I saved the game after the blackout occurred then reloaded and hey, we have vision! But, alas, no weapons, health bar, flashlight etc. etc. So this map has gone the way of many maps before it — straight to the Recycle Bin. It’s probably just an incompatibility issue with my PC.

Right, I’m off to checkout that Blue Shift demo you mentioned…

To #2 again, I installed the HL2: Blue Shift demo and experienced a weird black/white negative effect, which was cured by disabling HDR! So thanks for the tip.

This was, however, different to the problem I experienced with the Fallout map.

I haven’t tried Fallout YET! I don’t have it downloaded, I’m only getting a 0.05kbs speed —-> thank goodness for GetRight download manager. So as they say “time will tell” and I can find out if this happens on my rig!

This mod came from a Russian site, this was the SLOWEST I’ve ever had! aside from dial-up, maybe the NSA/FBI are monitoring the web again!! Who knows or cares!!! Anyway To #1, after the Blackout screen that was the end, to bad coulda been a good mod!

  7. The file this links to is Fallout Area 21. screenshot 6 looks similar to screenshot 4 on the Area 21 page but I can’t figure out if they’re the same map.
