Deserted Russian Spaceport – Real Theme

14th July 2010

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

These images are not as spectacular as some of the others in the Real Themes category, but with a similar style to the first level of 99 Bolts: Chasing Winona (POC), I think it could make a great start to a mod.

Lots of glare from the sun, slowly reducing health due to the heat and exhaustion of the player. Plenty of places to explore, clear reason to encounter zombies and then inside the base, some Combine.

Lots of chances for the mapper to create puzzles to reach the higher parts of the area etc. This could be an interesting level for sure.

If anybody knows where this place is, please let me know.

      I particularly like pictures 6, 16, and 20

    2. HAHA, the furthest I get to go is down the road. I’m not normally allowed outside with adult supervision.

I am not sure that it’s the real Cosmodrome Baikonur. And even it’s not a part of it. Really, I think it’s a fake. I was a Soviet officer and the place of my servicing was there. But I didn’t see places like those. Though they are very similar.

I wasn’t aware the Russians had space shuttles. I mean, how did this never come up before?

    1. Bolx

The Russians not only had a space shuttle they had a copy of Concorde, the TU-144 (it’s nickname in the west was Concordski).

It made only one flight in the late eighties and was scrapped a few years later.

      1. Mike

16 Tu-144 made 2556 flights from 1975 to 1978. Try Wikipedia at least.

Because of the limitedness of western education system and mass media. They never told you if somebody better. I.e. the very first Soviet GPS sattelite was launched in 1982 (4 years after US).

qwctf right – it,s territory Energi Corp.

TU-144 – is not copy, this is other way – have diffrences with engines and his design arrangement – after to play a trick incedent programm was closed

“Buran” – Snowstorm it,s not full copy of SpaceShuttle – it’s bugfixed SpaceShuttle 2.0 – the haven’t shuttle problems, safe, more powerfull and full automatics – it was in orbital flight and return without peoples – by remote control – programm was closed
if NASA use this design arrangement – peoples don’t got Challenger, Columbia…

and The Russians also create “Spiral” – first and only one in world space battleship – all modern investigations (like Ð¥-37Ð) – lateness from it on 60 years (development termalcover for Spiral start in 1966 – 15 years before space shuttle program ) have worked prototype for testing airfliyng part and incomplete fullsize space prototype
    programm was closed
try find his foto – its awesome ship, looks like in best fantastick films but it’s real

  6. It looks like The Steps in the former USSR.
