Following on from last week’s poll, this week I ask about specific NPCs. The image above is taken from Azure Sheep, where if my memory serves me you had to protect Kate, a female security guard.

Regular readers will know that I dislike playing with squads. Mainly becasue they are more trouble than they are worth! Squad Romeo did a good job but I don’t remember any others. I am surprised that the community hasn’t made more maps with squads.

To really do this question justice I think a detailed analysis of the mods released would need to be presented. However, until that happens we will have to just use our memories and wander blindly into the discussion!

I was chatting with Your Evil Twin this week about a mod he had start a long time ago called Critical Mass.

This goes back to Poll Question 111, where I asked about one long or 5 short mods. With 5 short mods, if you don’t like what you are playing, you can stop and you don’t have to worry too much about missing some great levels. With a long mod if you don’t like what you are playing you have to consider whether the mod gets better.

I just added a mod called The Real 2 and the author claimed, via his website, that when you finished it you would be a better player. I don’t believe that, unless the mod is specifically designed to improve a player’s skill via specific practices.
