Alphabetville is the sixth and final competition in the 6×10 Mapping Competition series.
Each entry must use letters as the layout or basis for the map
There are 4 entries to play.
This competition required entrants to create some form of “chase” scene.
The player could be the person chasing or being chased.
It could be objective based (reach a specific point) or time based (remain uncaptured for a set time).
There was no restriction of the type of environment.
There are 2 entries in this mod, taking completely different design directions.
This competition required entrants to create puzzles to allow an elevator to work or open.
They were allowed any style or combinations of styles.
There are 6 entries in this mod, all offering something interesting and challenging.
This competition is being kindly sponsored by SteamContests.Com. The prize, in addition to the points, is $25 US Dollars (paid via PayPal) plus two random Steam games.
DoorVille is the first in a series of 6 mapping competitions lasting ten days each. The objective was to select ANY locked door from HL2, Ep1 or Ep2 and give the player a chance to find out what’s behind it.
Locked doors are a very important part of all Half-Life games. They control the player’s flow through a level.
Sometimes they tease you with a glimpse behind some glass, other times you hear sounds, but in all cases they are telling you “You are not wanted here!”
Well, now that is changed. Dare you find out what’s behind the door?
The NewBlackMesaVille theme was pretty simple: Create a map with the feel of Black Mesa but try to make it seem new with new textures or just interesting layout.
This map was the only entry into the NewBlackMesaVille mapping competition. A few others promised to send entries, but circumstance got in the way. They all promised to release their work at some point in the future.
I have included more screenshots than I would normally for a map this size, because I took a good look around and wanted to record all the intersting points.
Be warned, there is no “actual” combat.
Well, here it is. The entries from the CrossbowVille mapping Competition.
The objective was to create an interesting release that used the Crossbow as the main weapon.
The mod contains 3 entries, with varying styles.
Enjoy being scared? This mapping competition challenged mappers to make a scary scene. No combat was required but allowed.
There are 5 entries in this mappack. The maps can be played in any order. I have listed them in the order I received them.
In addition, I would like to thank all the entrants. GREAT WORKS GUYS!
Don’t forget to play late at night with all the lights out!
