    Play It Now!

Short 4 map mod from Letkyx. Tense oppressive atmosphere. Claustrophobic environments, a lot of dim lighting. Sudden explosions and darknesses. Move through a destroyed Mesa building using ducts, shafts and broken walls. Not one working door. Great end fight with a hard to find exit. Top quality. Too short. 3.5/5

    Maybe?

There’s a room in the 3rd map, that you can’t get out of. There’s no autosaves, so if you don’t have any quicksaves outside the room, it’s over. Because of that i’m going to give it a MAYBE Otherwise, it’s a prety good standard half-life map set.

  3. Phillip says Play It!

For a 3MB file and 30 minutes of gameplay I had fun. Sure, the coloured lights got a little bit too much and the appearance of the Garg scared the poop out of me, but all in all it was a nice little piece.

I think the room that TheRipper is talking about is the one with the health and HEV charger, but I just move a crate to get out.

Anyway, the atmosphere is quite claustrophobic and some parts seem very similar to others.

Whilst this isn’t exactly a forgotten gem it was a pleasant surprise. If you like Black Mesa mods, you’ll probably like this one.

  4. Play It Later

Another mod from creators of “Ispitatel”. One scientist complains of a memory loss and tells everything that he remembers. His memories starts when he was standing in the corridor, there were dead scientist and sound dogs in front of him.

We venture through storages, ventilations, canalizations. Once or twice we’ll be in the laboratories” corridors. The design is quite simple, but various and the atmosphere is there. Ambient sound are sounding. The HUD is nice: we play as a scientist, so the HUD is white, but without flashlight, which will be there only when we find it.

The elevator shaft is too bland, and how did the water get there? There’s no wooden crunch when we hit most wooden boxes. I think that the place where we fight Garg would be more fun if the room was bigger and without a dead end. At the end there will be breakable light sources, I didn’t like that. And the ending doesn’t return to the menu.

Conclusion: not bad, but I’ve seen better.

  5. Play It Later

Yet another one from Team Letkyx, the fifth (as far as I can tell) so far, it’s better than the others!

It did have the feel of BM about it and none of Team Letkyx’s pet snark’s but the combat was almost minimal. The Garg was a nice touch but easy to avoid and find the way out while letting the grunts distract it.

It looked OK and played OK but was not that taxing, but the wooden crates were a bit strange as some sounded like metal?

Overall its worth playing when you’ve got the time.

  6. Play It Now!

    This was tough but enjoyable.

As soon as I saw it was by Team Letkyx I knew it was going to be fun, and I wasn’t disappointed. This mod was hard but fun nevertheless. The gameplay was well done with a good range of enemies. I liked the map design too, although the lighting was hugely frustrating in areas. I also liked the short length, as I feel that the mod would have got boring had it of went on for too long.

    It’s worth playing.

    Maybe?

You just have to glance at the screenshots above to see how gaudily lit the maps are. Actually, much of this pack is dark and you will do a lot of vent crawling so your flashlight will be on most of the time anyway.

The combat is decent. Believe it or not, until the grunts show up, your toughest challenge will probably be the headcrabs since they are lurking in every dark corner (and there are a ton of really dark corners connected by slightly less dark areas).

What are pretty well done are the feel and atmosphere, and it does feel like Black Mesa. There are always things going on, like air raids affecting you underground (and will often kill you since you happen to be right below a falling chunk of ceiling). Unfortunately there are also the inevitable vents and walkways that can only hold cockroaches and break under your weight.

This might be a pleasant surprise for some but I wouldn’t go out of my way to play it. It is only 4 maps though, so for me the length was perfect.

  8. Play It Later

It’s not bad, but there were too many headcrabs lurking everywhere for me. Also, I found the ammo for a .357 several times but never actually found the gun. Does anybody know where it is in the mod?

    Play It Now!

Another good one from Letkyx, appart from the ispitatel series this is another coherent mod, with appropiate combats good levels of action and combat, the perfect mod for play and having some fun within 30 minutes or less, so is cool go and play it, is good to have mods withno bugs, so let’s keep on waiting for more modies in the further days…..

  10. Play It Later

Pretty good map from Letkyx again

    Pro’s:
    -Very good scripted sequences
    -Little puzzles
    -Excellent combat action
-Solid level design, nice lighting but not everybodies taste
    -Suspenseful gameplay

    Con’s:
    -A bit short
    -Unfair placed enemies
    -Not really special map interior

  11. Maybe?

Pretty short, the graphics were lower quality then others. Story is ok, but felt let down at the end.

  12. Maybe?

Mapping is OK, but… Annoying enemies around almost every corner, and moreover, about 85% of gameplay almost in darkness. Play it, if you like such kind of maps.

  13. Play It Now!

    Pretty fun mod!

You’re a scientist and I guess that your goal is to escape. Nothing special here.

The combat was really good; I had a great time with those grunts. Though, it was a little bit TOO hard at some points.

The textures were nice and, even though they were from Blue Shift, the models looked pretty cool.

Overall, you should really play this.
