1. Phillip says Maybe

WOW, I don’t even know where to start. Okay, I almost gave it an AVOID IT! recommendation partly because it crashed EVERY time I went outside (I had to use noclip to skirt the edges), partly because of the strange start and partly because I couldn’t find an end. In fact, now that I am typing this I am doubting myself.

Anyway, I’ll leave it at Maybe because there were some things I liked.
For those that do play it, and you have to be the kind of player who wants to play everything. When you get to the spinning blade, know that you can’t pass it. Just bash a hole in the wall along the line of the laser thingy.
The author really needs to decide what kind of map they want to build because this is just a collection of ideas stuck together. Each map should have a clear beginning, middle and end, and I suppose that this one does but they don’t feel connected.

All in all, some interesting ideas but too much of a mismash.

2. Avoid It!

A Dog’s Breakfast.

Pros: BSP Correctly titled “hl2_mapalpha‘.
Cons: No need to play, just think of all possible cons and type your entries here:

3. Think Twice

Look purely experimental no ?
Do it was really designed for publication ?

4. Play It Later

“WHAT!? Play it later? Are you CRAZY?”
Woah, hey, let’s not be too hasty here. First, yes I’m crazy, and second, for a beginner’s map that’s still in alpha, it’s not too bad. I mean just look at the creator’s name (noobphoenix). He admits that he’s a newbie. So let’s just point out the negatives real quick.
– Fullbright
– Some places I couldn’t open some stuff and had to noclip
– Architecture errors and goofs
– No proper ending
– How was I supposed to figure out to break the wall without noclipping?
Some might put dev textures in the negatives but I’ve already expressed my like of them so I won’t talk about it here. SOOO, positives? I can think of some.
– Nice combat
– Interesting abstract environment
– Rather large in terms of proportion of rooms not playtime so feels like a weird version of the Citadel from HL2

So is there room for improvement? Yes, tons. Do I think the author can get there? Certainly. Just keep working on it. If my review has convinced you to play it go ahead but if you don’t like it don’t blame me, you can blame my friends on the other side.
