  1. Phillip says Play It!

A lot of new mappers could learn a lot from this release. It’s perfectly sized and the author has done a very good job of packing plenty of gameplay into a relatively small area.

Her/she clearly wasn’t too ambitious and kept his/her focus tight and the result is a well-polished and fun little map.

I spent longer than I should have running around the apartments and the same is true for the outdoor areas, so your playthrough will probably be a bit shorter than mine.

I definitely recommend playing this and I can’t wait for the promised other two parts.

  2. Play It Now!

Although short, this is a very good map. A good example that a mod does not need to include 10 maps to be good.

I’m very impressed by the Combine Architecture. I know how hard it can be to get it right.

This map also shows that, no matter how many maps that has the theme City 17, there is ALWAYS something new you can do.

    Highly Recommended.

  3. Play It Now!

The action in this map continues all around you, making it feel like a fluid experience, as opposed to the “clear this room, proceed to next room” approach.

It is a little odd that the citizen you play wakes up in an H.E.V. suit. I understand the need for a HUD, but you find batteries for it too.

  4. Play It Now!

This is a great mod I think for all the reasons mentioned. Really well put together, good action, atmosphere and graphics. I also spent too much time running around in the building as I initially missed the way to proceed – there were several clever spots like that in fact.

I didn’t get the significance of the “binoculars video sequence’, however it did inspire me to get out on that side of the building, and I eventually figured a way to do that. The blank colored textures were the first clue that I was outside the playing area!

  5. Play It Now!

Very nice, but it is pretty short

  6. Play It Now!

A good start to this mod with gunfire and chaos glimpsed through gaps in the ceiling and a dropped grenade exploding in your room, telling you its time to get moving. Some really nice chaos decorating in these rooms, but no weapons and apparently no escape! And then you spot a gun on your hands and knees and the action starts! You fight through the urban decay quickly acquiring weapons, including the ever-useful crowbar and then there is a lull as you watch your unfortunate comrades through the electroscope.
The outside combat is intense and fun; gung-ho heroics are rewarded with a hail of bullets and a tease of weapons behind that ever-present combine forcefield, oddly placed halfway through a doorframe! Shield off and more lone gunman style combat ensues, nicely paced but I would have liked my comrades to be behind me. Nicely placed holes in building provide a few surprises and then you pull the plug and open a door. I tried to get my three comrades to join me, but they seemed reticent so I went through on my own. A hole with rungs led to a novel mod ending idea. Standard Half Life 2 material, but so very well put together and professional. I am looking forward to the next instalments.

    Play It Now!

Defenitely, you must play this map. is really fun, and gives you that nude feeling to start with absolutely no arms at the begginig.

The shooting battle outside the appartment is really well done and feels as the climax of the whole map, I only hope this map has a continuing part becaus it worth it.

The human-CMB archicteture is really nice done, well I think that’s all I have to say about this map.

I hope further chapters will be deliver.

  8. Play It Later

So, to start we have a classic appartment raid scene. The scripted bits are quite good in this map and you feel pressured to keep moving to find an escape from the building. Like others, I did go round in circles a couple of times before working out what needed to be done.

The second part of the map is street based combat. The area is quite small and contained, giving an arena-like feel but you still get to move around alot. There are some rebel allies who make things more exciting without being too easy. In fact some good tacitcs and use of the cover provided will be needed to succeed.

Perhaps my only criticism was that the pacing is off since there is no “downtime” in the fighting and a pretty abrupt ending. However, if it does become the first part of three as the credits promise, this would be less of a problem. I agree with Phillip that this is a good example of a tight focused release.

  9. Play It Now!

A short, adrenaline-thumping romp through an apartment building and a Combine barricade. Very, very well done.

  10. Play It Now!

Although short, this mod is definitely worth a play. The main combat encounter shows what you can do with a small space. I do think there could have been a little more combat instead of walking around in the apartments. Nevertheless, great mod, hope the next part comes out soon!

  11. Play It Now!

For me, this mod is just what I needed. Classic HL2 action.

First of all, I really liked the beginning of this mod. I really like intense chase scenes in mods, but unfortunately there aren’t many. The combat is pretty well made, but I find it a bit easy. The biggest problem is that it’s too short. You can beat this mod in about 10 minutes.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this mod. It’s fun, the mapping is great and even though the combat isn’t challenging, you’ll find this a blast to play. Still waiting for episode 2, but I have a feeling mappers hate that phrase (*ahem* Human Error, 1187 *ahem*)

  12. Play It Later

This author takes some classic set pieces (Apartment Raid / Street War) and gives a unique flavor to them in the form of this mod. Definitely worth playing if you are looking for a short level to complete in your downtime. (And possibly an additional two parts as stated by the author.) It is fun and well put together!

  13. Play It Now!

All the key ingredients that make Half Life what it is are here; clearly made by someone perceptive enough to get the point of how Source is supposed to work.

Combat is challenging but not impossible and the map designs are both consistent with the established C17 motif and feel organic, rather than a mess of blocks. The modder has cracked that sweet spot between too much and too little detail. The usual smattering of puzzles are in evidence – flip control panels to open doors, pull out a plug or two, find something to use as a makeshift step. You know the drill.

Good use of existing G-Man assets for the intro, with a small modification so it doesn’t feel like a straight copypasta job. Same goes for the outro motif, it nicely fits with the conceptual “G Man sends one of his vast array of goons to some other point in time” scenario.

Looking forward to the next one if it materialises.

  14. Play It Now!

The version from RTSL didn’t run on my computer so I used the version from moddb. Short and fun mod!

  15. Play It Later

Looks and plays good. It’s only one map so just drop the map in your maps folder and run it from the console. No need to install the mod.

  16. Play It Now!

All the actions, puzzles, everything cramped up in a small map and yet it runs very smooth. This is a very good map right here.
