Week 04: Livestream Schedule and Giveaways

Hi all, we are still not completely back to normal, but I expect normal service to return next weekend.

First off, Don AKA Unq, continues Classic of the Month, where he plays GoldSource mods from the Hall of Fame.

This weekend he will be playing Someplace Else on Saturday at 11am EST, that’s 4pm GMT but you should double check you local time.

In addition, Phillip MAY be playing ChasmVille

During the weekend, one copy of Decent: Underground and one copy of Circuits will be given away, both courtesy of SteamContests.com AKA Aaron’s Giveaways, so a HUGE thanks to Aaron. There might be some other games to giveaway too, I will see.

All streams will be on the RTSL Twitch Channel and announced on the RTSL Twitter Feed.

If you have any questions about the streams, just ask.

Awards 2015 Winners

Single player maps and mods are often considered the little brother of multiplayer releases. But not here on RTSL. They take the centre stage and deservedly so in my not-so-humble opinion.

Below you will find the winners of the RTSL Awards 2015 in 6 categories. Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the non-winners.

This was a great event and will only become bigger next year.

Oh, and talking of winners, have you seen and played the 2015WinnersVille mod? It contains the winners of all the 2015 RTSL Mapping Challenges.

For those interested, the previous three stages can be found here: Stage Three, Stage Two, and Stage One.

Week 03: Livestream Schedule and Giveaways

Hi all, things are starting to get back to normal and this weekend is the first proper weekend of streaming and giving games away of 2016. YAY!

First off, Dan Jordan AKA The Rabbit, starts his new event called Source of Fame (page coming Friday), where he plays Source mods from the Hall of Fame. In many cases he has never played them and it will be interesting to see his point of view. If you don’t know who Dan is, he won the RaiseTheBarVille Mapping Challenge.

This weekend he will be playing Powerstation 17 on Sunday at noon PST, that’s 8pm GMT but you should double check you local time.

On Saturday at 3pm GMT, Don AKA Unq will be playing Under The Black Moon for Opposing Force as part of his Classic of the Month event. It’s a week late because Don wasn’t very well last weekend.

In addition, Don and Phillip MAY be finishing Decay at some point, but that is NOT confirmed.

On the two confirmed streams we will be giving away one copy per stream of The Killing Floor 2, 6-player co-op Zed-slaughtering mayhem. In Early Access so we can get the gameplay balance perfected, to ensure the maximum amount of fun. And blood and guts., courtesy of SteamContests.com AKA Aaron’s Giveaways, so a HUGE thanks to Aaron. There might be some other games to giveaway too, I will see.

All streams will be on the RTSL Twitch Channel and announced on the RTSL Twitter Feed.

If you have any questions about the streams, just ask.

Awards 2015 Stage Three

Okay, here we are, on the final stretch of the Awards.

This stage sees the two most popular choices from each of the award categories go head-to-head in the final vote-out.

Each reader only gets one vote for each category.

Winners will be announced next Sunday.

Good luck to everybody!

For those that missed the previous stages, they can be found here: Stage One and Stage Two.

Awards 2015 – Stage Two

Okay, it’s time for some actual voting.

Below you will find polls for each category. This will last until next Saturday. Each poll allows a maximum of two or three votes, depending on the category.

The final stage will only allow one vote per category. Think of this stage as an elimination stage. At the end of this stage there will only be two entries left for each category.

Awards 2015 – Stage One

Okay, so here we are Friday 1st January 2016, so time for the Awards 2015!

Just a reminder before we get started: These awards will consist of three separate stages, each a week long. Full deatils can be found here: Awards 2015 Format.

Stage One: Nominations.
Stage Two: Refine
Stage Three: Winners

There are 5 awards on offer: “Best Source Release”, “Best GoldSource Release”, “Best Ville Entry”, “Best Moment in a Release” and “Most Anticipated Release”.

What you need to do now, is look through the sections below and if you feel that I have missed a nomination, make a comment and if at least 3 people agree, it will be added to Stage Two, next week.

Now that I have written the post, I am wondering whether we should separate the *Villes into their own new category. It seems a little unfair on the mods create by one person to have them compete against mods created by multiple authors. What do you think?

Reddit MOTW Archive

About In December 2015, I noticed that the Half-Life subreddit had a “Mod of the Month” image/link in the sidebar. I contacted the main moderator of the site and offered to create a “Mod of the Week” image/link and he agreed. So, since Friday 1st January 2016 I have been creating them. This page is… Read More

Week 51 – Weekend Livestream Schedule

Hi All,

This weekend sees Don continue his Classic of the Month event by playing The Long Night for Half-Life. The stream will be at 9am EST / 2pm GMT on Saturday. He is expecting it to last around 45 minutes.

Phillip will also be streaming, probably CrossoverVille and Strider Mountain.

There is also a good chance that Don and Phillip will stream the final few chapters of Decay.

On all streams we will be giving away a few copies of Decent: Underground as well as at least one copy of Circuits, all courtesy of SteamContests.com AKA Aaron’s Giveaways, so a HUGE thanks to Aaron.

All streams will be on the RTSL Twitch Channel and announced on the RTSL TWitter Feed.

If you have any questions about the streams, just ask.

Awards 2015 Format

This years awards will try a new format. It will be split into 3 one-week voting stages. I’ don’t like the idea of complicating things but I want to make sure it’s fair and open.

This year there will be FOUR awards: Best Source Release, Best GoldSource Release, Best Ville Entry and Best Moment in a Release. Last year there was best overall release, but that didn’t seem fair as the engines for Source and GoldSource are so different.

Voting will be like the standard Poll Questions systems. I like the idea of limiting it to members who have used at least 25 recommendations during the year, but for now it will be public.

In additions, there are new icons for each award, courtesy of Jeff Muñoz (Homepage, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr & LG). HUGE thanks to him for his hard work.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, now is the time to make them as once the voting starts it is highly unlikely I will change anything.
